A girl killed over love outside her religion

Well I got into a few debates on a few websites over this first I'll tell the story.

This girl some where in the Middle East fell in love with this guy of another religion. Well word got around and for some reason it really pissed these mobsters off (gangsters) so they stoned her to death while she was walking one day and recored it with their cell phones. I do advise for young people not to view this its not extremely graphic but it is shocking.

Now the arguments I got into on some sites is that.
"oh well, shit happens"
(Everyone that said this didn't even watch the video)

Another was that there's nothing that can be done about this and nothing
will ever make ANYONE!! (and I mean anyone) change their ways and what they believe is right from wrong.

Last a ton of people said the USA should just nuke them all.... which I really don't see how nuking a whole city would save those in the city due to us just nuking them...

Like I said I don't advise young people looking at this video a few young kids bitched at me saying
"Why did you post this, I hate you!, Now I feel bad for picking on people I did, blah blah"

Link removed due to the graphic nature. If you want to see it, you can probably find it via Google. It was a video of the girl being stoned to death.

You don't see the girl until about half way into the vid.. this happened on may 7th.

Ooh yeah graphic video I saw that a while ago. The subject's touchy! Also it wasn't 'generic mobsters', it was a few male members of her family (family probably being like the whole 'aunts, uncles, grandpas, cousins, second cousins, etc' thing. But yeah she was a Kurd that I think had a Sunni boyfriend, her family told her to stop doing that, she tried taking refuge with some lady (I can't remember her significance), and then a couple male members of her family (8 or 9) dragged her outside by force, and stomped/stoned her to death.

The whole giant mob thing? Yeah those were just innocent bystanders. They probably A. had their own little inner conflict about whether or not that was right to stone her to death, and B. probably thought the mob mentality of the scene would just get them killed for not helping. You can't quite blame them for not stepping in. The story's sick and wrong, and the people that instead of helping or even just standing around were taking video with their camera phones are a little fucked up.

Oh and a point of sickeningly ironic interest (what I came away from this video thinking): they have no problem with bashing her head in with a cinder block, as long as her panties aren't showing (that's about as much as the bystanders did, cover her up when the stomping revealed something).

I'd agree with smokey though, you really shouldn't watch this video! It's kind of bad!

A lot of the time the image seemed to be obscured by the mob of people. It's actually rather surprising, how many people will go along just to see someone getting killed publicly. It always happens when there are public executions. They probably want to demonstrate their feelings of disapproval towards the love of people of different religions.

Well...here in Italy, a while ago, a (muslim? it's the correct word?) girl got killed by her father and uncle because she loved an Italian (and Christian) man...

English lesson - for girls, we use "her"

Yes Muslim is the right word. :D
Did the Italian Christian's father and uncle kill her then?

Well, that's the point. It's not the religion - it's the culture. It's a pretty shocking state of affairs actually - it happens a lot more frequently that is nice to think about. Much of the time, since murders may be carried out on a member of a tightly closed community, with the general acceptance of much of that community, investigations don't get very far.

This is disgusting. Seeing how they stoned her to death, that's only sick.
There were so many people and no one tried even helping her.
Too sad to see that religion is some cultures stands above family only to "restore the familly's pride".

Oh yes, that reminds me - who actually watched the video? And why? I mean, it's fairly clear that it's footage of a woman having her head stoved in with a cinderblock, while people watch. If I saw that, I wouldn't be able to sleep for weeks :s

Well they goddamn well should, there is absolutely no reason or justification for being cruel to someone who is not doing you any harm. Children have the excuse that they don't know any better and they're just monkeying what they've seen from their role models, but adults should be held accountable for it. Unfortunately in countries like that people don't think that way to the extent that that kind of shit is acceptable, but even in supposedly 'civilized' places we have a real problem with being civil to eachother, especially people who have different beliefs.

People have a really hard time understanding that the same principle that says they have a right to believe what they like applies to every other human being, and that expressing your beliefs does not include the right to abuse or harm others who disagree. Without that principle you get one popular belief system in total dominance that ultimately turns into the unpopular, persecuted set of beliefs as times change and everyone ends up getting shit on eventually. I have a hard time getting how admitting another person's right to believe something you disagree with is the same as blasphemy or whatever. Ugh. Anyways why post this :P

What was the most shocking about this clip to me was that I literally watched the last few living moments of someone. I really, really, regret watching it. But I guess I was warned eh? In my personal opinion, I believe that no other living human being should have the right to kill another. But unfortunately, that's not how the world works. It's quite sickening really.

The same thing happened in Germany some time ago (man, Raz... should've mentioned it, now I have to do the work :p ), and while it was in the news all over the place for a couple of weeks here and there, only some people in my area did care. All else were like 'Lol, Family Warz!' -.- Well...

One thing I thnk I need to point, though: Muslim is anything but the correct word, Hisuwashi... in the Islam, you neither kill, nor glorify killing. Just like you can't just call the Islamic extremists Muslims that easy - they're extremists, and you shouldn't judge Muslims from them.

But basically, what DZ said is what I feel.

What makes me feel that this sentence would fit in almost every Symposium thread? ...

... woah. I honestly wish that I wouldnt of watched it.
Only after I watched it did I scroll down and see that everyone else has posted the same thing.

I think it should not be left up here on this site, where others (mainly younger people) have the ability to view it.

I would of just reported it, but I noticed that 2 mods and an admin both read it...
I think I might as well anyway... This thing could screw someone over for watching it.

Aww man... I feel sorry for that girl...

I hope those people who killed her burn in hell for a long time because of this.

It's said what is in it, it's strongly advised to not view it, what more could you want? Also, young people of fickle mettle are discouraged from even being in this subforum (see forum description: The Symposium This forum is for serious discussion and debate. Users under the age of 16 should have parental consent before viewing this forum as it may contain adult content.)

It's perfectly acceptable to have the thing there, because people that want to see it should be able to to have a view on the topic at hand.

Man, that was awful. I'm still a strong believer that religion does more bad than good, and this backs that.

I believe the issue with religion is not the fundamental beliefs that the religion espouses but rather the power structure that it imposes. Faith and the fruits of faith have many positive effects in an individual's life, or at the least have few negative effects. But when you put an authority between a person and his object of faith and that man says "you have to do what I say or you won't see your God" you have a serious problem.

That's where you get ideas like, "God says this and that guy is doing that, I'm in charge here and I say anyone that doesn't go along with what God says doesn't deserve to live, and I am the mouth of God. Therefore if you don't kill that guy, I'll make someone else who does have Faith kill you too."

What a lot of bullshit.
