A custom character sprite in the works

After some thought I came up with this:

This is suppose to the protagonist of of my current project.
Anyhow... I want your input on how it looks.

Your concept is good, and it's a very good start, however there are a few problems. One issue you should address urgently is the lack of contrast in your pallette. Work on this and the sprite is bound to improve. Secondly there is some pillowshading, mainly around the shirt, and arm guard? I think darker outlines could also improve the sprite, but that ties in with the pallette.

its very very very very....very saturated. Try and diverse your color pallet a bit buddy. Other than that its looking pretty sweet

The sprite itself looks damn good, its just the colour pallet...

Actually this is not pixelled, it's just photoshop-drawn. There is no palette. The non-magic-swirl one has 1,022 colors and the magic-swirl one has 2,573 colors. (But yeah, I do feel like there's way too much red ...)

Nobody said a sprite has to be pixelled, however.

But I would still suggest an outline, even just a hinted one. The textures are muddied because it's hard to find where some shapes end (i.e. on the face). The pose is pretty advanced and the shading on the folds in the pants are great.  I actually think the magic-swirl one looks better; more dynamic, I guess. It'd be harder to animate, but I dunno if you're making these animated.

Anyway there's my two pennies ^_^;;

Thank you for your inputs on the sprites.
I'll get to work on improving them now. Also, I did plan to anime them. But that's after I get this down first.

Well I edited it alittle. So if we put them Back to back this is how it looks.

I just reoutlined with a darker color and shaded in the darker color as well. Also made the face more clearer to look at.
