3D Game Engine, User Friendly, A+++

Wanted to present a great 3d engine for use in creating commercial game's, and private games! Also it include's the ENTIRE source code absolutely free (royalty free), and incredibly easy to use!

Here's the Link

http://www.kids.platinumarts.net/

Yes, (Cube Engine) is very very easy to use, but rather odd to get used to.

Here is some brief help to get you guys started,

1) All editing of the gameworld is done real-time, so you actually have to load a scenario to edit one, and you can even invite other's via IP game to come into your scenario and help you edit it.
2) Very very easy to use, however rather odd to get used to at the beginning. Don't let this perturb you! I will list some commands that will help you get started.
3) Allow's importing of obj, md2, md3 and md5 files (A good selection of common 3d application extension's) with more coming out everyday, and support for open source plugin writing to include many more.
4) Feature's include, 3d mapping, lighting/blending technology, advanced shader model support, import of custom 3d object's, particle engine included, and full source for free.
5) Can I make Commercial Game's with this program you ask? Absolutely. You can even rewrite the source code in any way you see fit.
6) Given it's incredible easy to use interface, there is a drawback to this program. Given this a 3D engine, you will have to be somewhat knowledgeable in creation of your 3D object's for import into this editor.

Here are some shortcut command's for those of you that like to play first, ask question's later.

A) First, load a premade scenario. (Again, editing is done real-time)
B) To highlight any given area, simply left click and drag. On flat surface's, you can use the shortcut command of right clicking all the corner's to highlight without dragging.
C) To enable Grass, hit your Tilde key, and type "grass 1", for disable hit your Tilde key, and type "Grass 0" (FPS friendly when grass removed)
D) To change Texture's on a given area, simply highlight the area you wish to retexture, and hit F2 to bring up the texture menu. After finding your texture, simply double click it.
E) To raise/lower terrain (heightmapping), simply highlight your area you wish to change. After the selection is highlighted, hit the "H" key to enter heightmap mode, and scroll your mouse wheel down to lower, and up to raise.
F) To create water, first highlight your area you wish to add water too. Enter heightmapping mode ("H" key), lower your terrain to your liking, then click the uppermost corner of the sunken terrain to highlight the entire area. After doing so, simply hit your Tilde key, and type "editmat water" to add water to your given area.
G) To add a new Item (Mapmodel) to your level, simply begin by hitting escape. Find the selection "New Mapmodel", click it, and pick from your premade database of items.
H) To move map model's, simply enter edit mode first. After entering editmode, looking at your model, you will see a cube representation of it, clicking on a side of the cube (leftclick), hold and turn left and right to move your model along the X and Y axis, or up and down to move along the Z axis.
I) To begin a fresh new map of your own creation, start by hitting the Escape Key after loading a scenario. When the menu is opened, simply find the selection "Create new Map", and click it. (Size matter's, 18 for your new map size will be quite huge and taxing on some system's, its good to keep this number between 12-15 for most lower end computers).
J) To save your newly created map, or existing edited map, begin by clicking the Tilde key and entering your command prompt. After command prompt is open, type "Savemap (your game name here)" to save your existing map to file.

That should get you started!

I have a conference in Athen's here in about 2 day's, should be gone for about a week or so. I wanted to release a free demo of my upcoming commercial game right here on rmxp.org, but part of our development team still are working out some kink's and adding feature's, look forward to it soon after I get back.

Sauerbraten was a modification of the open source first released by cube engine (sandbox).:

Thus Sauerbraten is considered Cube 2 Engine, or rather a overhauled rewritten source of Cube. Both are great editor's, however Sauerbraten was released for FPS games in general.

The file size is massive .HOLY ZHIT!!  I can't bare slow download at that size XD

You sort of have a streak of bad posting I've been noticing. Please don't post for useless matters such as download sizes, at the very least contribute to the thread in addition. Thanks so much. -Surmuck

looks fantastic, but my question is how much programming do you need to know? Every 3d game maker I've ever seen has power users putting out amazing videos and images, but the lay person has no idea how to get there because these "advertising images" are done professionally. Will it be able to be used effectively by people who don't know C#, C++, or even VB 6.0?

Massive file size?! It's only 122mb! I may just download this... But I don't have scripting knowledge or 3D programs, so I should probably give it a miss.

Cube 2 engine is VERY easy to use. Basically, it just takes the scroll wheel on your mouse to do. That's about it. There are obviously advanced controls, but that just involves holding control, shift, G, etc etc. I've made a few levels of my own for practice, I think I even have a movie of it somewhere..

 It's onyl 122mb! It's huge and not fast for non-T1 users :O Ga

"It's onyl 122mb! It's huge and not fast for non-T1 users :O Ga"

lol at school it took me about a minute and a half to d/l

I was playing with it, does it have an rpg style project?

This thread is rapidly deteriorating over the rather stupid discussion of file size and then short winded, non-contributing responses. I already handed out one verbal warning, let's not get to official ones.
Talk about the program, not...well, whatever this turned into.

Thanks.

Looks pretty decent. Does this support scripting for an RPG game? For example, would I be able to use this engine and self program/script functions such as a leveling system, etc. Or can a game world not be created directly from this program?

Sorry for that noob questions, I'm new to this deal.

I don't particularly like the idea of trying to make a game from within the game itself.

I mean, no real tangible interface, lots of fiddly key combinations just to get the save dialogue, etc...I don't really see the charm behind it. Maybe if you was making a very simple game for kids than maybe, but not for the type of stuff the majority of people here wish to do.

Basically I don't see anyone making the next Final Fantasy in this engine anytime soon. Does it even allow for cutscenes?

Sure, changing everything from within the actual game itself create's unique and visual hand's on affect while you sculpt so to speak memyself, and creating a given leveling system is just the tip of the iceberg! Given it's incredible ease of use, for actual functionality and creation overall, you will need some scripting knowledge to get you going. It is incredibly easy to use, but limited in function from the door, but think of it like this. The interface and visual's you see when you download it are nothing more than a example of what some user's compiled to showcase the editor itself, anything really can be done, that can be thought up :)
