Welcome to HBGames, a leading amateur game development forum and Discord server. All are welcome, and amongst our ranks you will find experts in their field from all aspects of video game design and development.

Contest changes (and management merge).

We've made two changes to the forums. Neither of them are particularly major, but they're worth your attention. Check it out.

We've removed the Events and Contests forum.
Simply put, the forum wasn't active enough to stick around. On top of that, the few active topics that did exist weren't really using the forum how we'd like it to be used. We've dropped the Contests forum. Official contests will be handled in the announcement section from here on.

But does this mean that you guys can't post contests anymore? Not true-- just put them in other places where they belong.
  • Art contests would go in the Art and Graphics forum.
  • Writing contests would go in the Writing forum.
  • Music contests would go in the Music Creation forum.
  • ...and so on. It's pretty clear what we're doing here, isn't it? For contests that aren't easily classified, use your best judgement. Many contests could be suited for RM Discussion.

Contest topics that haven't been posted in for over two months have been deleted. More recent contests have been moved to the appropriate forums.

With that cleared up, there's one more thing to address. Contests are not to be used as some sneaky way to get resources for your project. Yes, we're not dumb. If you are doing this, you will be warned and your topic will be locked. A few of these topics existed, and I moved them into the Recruitment and Classifieds subforum. That, or one of the requests subforums, is the only place where this kind of topic is allowed.

Moving on to number two...

We've gotten rid of the "Management" group.
This is more of a formality. There was never any different between Management and Administrator, other than the color of the name. This has caused some confusion among members as to who "runs" the site. All administrators are more or less equal in power, with the exception of shadow, who is the technical owner of the site, and jamie, who is a server administrator and has the position for technical purposes.

To clear up any confusion that may result from this, the following members have administrative positions on the forum:

In addition, the Private Subforums that we introduced a while ago have been pretty successful so far! If you need a place for your game dev group, that feature isn't going away any time soon. All of the names listed above have the ability to set up your private subforum, so if you want one, let one of us (or more than one) know in a private message.

Expect another announcement later in the week, one that very possibly could be announcing some new moderators! Joy!

Over and out, RMXP.org!

Still waiting on my powers to delete in the support forums...

But yeah the streamlining was probably necessary given the difficulty some people had with a bloody pot leaf.

Nice, now we have clear indication of 'official contests'.  Good job with the management tags etc too; they seemed redundant to me as well.

Finally, I as well, did not see the benefits of Management Titles. And thank you for cleaning up the Contest section. Too many noobs were trying to get easy resources.

For fucks sakes, can someone start warning for that Kupo shit? You've been doing it for like 4 years now aren't you even slightly ashamed?

man first they put a potleaf in the title bar then they get rid of the contests forum it's a wonder that I still post here

It's endearing. Also we could say the same thing about "bollocks", "shite", etc.
