Zeldrak's Art Shack

Welcome to my humble store. I've been around for some time, gathering people for my project, I think it's time i put my skills to another use.

Therefore I'm opening a shop and request topic with the purpose of helping people with their artwork for their games.

As of today (18/05/08) every request done is FREE of charge, including character designs. Although a user can only make 1 character design request and wait until i finish 1 to request another. Face sets remain with the save rules.

PS: For any "other" *winkwink* works, PM e and I might just think about it

What can I request?

Faces and Character designs are the only thing I'll be doing for the moment.
Everything will remain free of charge, using the same template as any other request. Character designs can be requested only once per post, and the user whom requests a Character Design must wait for me to finish one to ask for another request.

Character Designs MUST have a very good description. This way i know exactly what you want.

What do I need to do to request?

To request, simply use this template form. The more detailed the description is, the better and faster it's going to be for me to work on it.

I'm guessing this is the most important part of my post. I've had some problems with my external HDD, where i kept all my stuff. I have a few samples only but i'll eventually post more as soon as I upload new ones.

I just wanted to say this is amateur animu-styled artwork that doesn't make my eyes bleed. Congrazzles. (`o`)b

The texture on the hair in the last piece is especially well-done.

well, i do have a manga-based style, but i'm kinda entering on a more mixed one, getting more of a personal touch to it. I feel like i'm achieving my own personal style instead of following one.

environmentalist who sought nothing more than to preserve the earth and it's inhabitants.
The project was named: Project F." He will be used in flashbacks and documents (left by him) in my game.

Description:Profile view to the left. Blue hair with green tips at the end.Hair type- goes in
this direction -> and is spiky. Hair is short in the back, but he has bangs in the front. The
bangs cover his eyes. White shirt. Frowning expression.

I was going to say this before, but I forgot and you brought it up. ;o;

There's an inherent problem with commissioning amateur work. On one hand, your prices are more than reasonably fair. If you took the amount of time it took to make a good, full-bodied CG piece, and divided those hours by $10 or whatever you're charging, it makes minimum wage look like the Hamptons.

On the other hand, paying someone to design a game's characters for them in its entirety is too much for the average game maker. If you have, say, four main characters and another six characters worthy of design, well ... and that's an enormously minimalistic game, I'd think.

So it kinda ends up being a no-win situation for everyone, methinks. It's not a matter of quality or style at all.

it really depends. Creative work is highly underrated in the time we live in. Large companies just go get their concepts and designs off internet users and freelance artists.

I don't take much time making something unless i want to. I like getting stuff done slow but good.

Also, all of the character designs i will eventually create (in the future) will go towards my portfolio. Not only am I trying to help the average person make a game, I'm also improving myself with the requests. Each request is a new challenge to overcome, even more when it's a paid request.

I see a character design like a challenge. I'll continue improving the design until the client is satisfied with the work i have put into the piece. Only then will i feel that the artwork is good. (If i don't sound right it might be because i'm already half asleep over here :P)

Wow, i must say youre very skilled. i like the face you display as an example, it looks very awesome :D

Your face shots remind me a lot of the art style in Breath of Fire I and II, and, er, (how much work I still need to put into facial structure.) Sieg's eyes are hilariously bugged, and Aidan's goatee seems as if it were stuck on as an afterthought -- it's even skewed a little to one side, suggesting that he's incognito. However, if your full CGed example is any indication, these are the sorts of things you clean up before the final version. The CGed bust is a very excellent piece. The "halo" of light coming off the hair seems a little strangely placed, but aside from that, I quite approve of the hair -- you'd think that kind of texturing would make it too noisy, but it's quite effective.

Yeah, keep it up. You're definitely coming along here. Just stop making me jealous, damnit. ;=;

I can show you some screens to show I already have plenty of substance if this helps your decision.

And yeah... It's pretty tough to get paid for stuff unfortunately unless people area aiming for something commercial, since it's mainly hobbyist.
