Zackwell's Magical Musical Mystery Tour

I'm not really in the right state of mind to do commission work anymore (Not that I got any in the first place.)

I started composing in 2009, simply because no-one else would help me out as a younger chap.
I started by working with Anvil Studio, making midis which I might re-upload just for educational purposes. This went on for a long time, until Legacy gave me a copy of FL studio, which totally vexed me for a long time. I've worked with it since; even going as far as getting a totally legit legal copy of it.
I've been going to a music college for two years, almost at the end of it as I type this. It was fun. It helped me learn some interesting little tricks, even though everyone there used Logic Pro on macs. ¬_¬

So now I return, a long time departed, to show you my most recent works (2011 to 2013)

Most of these links will be for soundcloud, you can follow me there if you want, else I'll try and remember to update this list when I add a new piece.
I can't remember when I made most of these, so as a rule, the lower on the list it is, the more recent it is.
I'll try and keep them dated henceforth.

So, without further ado, enjoy.

Ah well. Guess I just have to become better than everyone else.
I'll keep the previous versions of this thread in yonder spoiler, though don't expect the links to work anymore.
Zackwell's Magical Musical Mystery Tour!

I'm opening up shop for people to request musics from me!

Examples -
Raining Down
"Did the rain always fall so heavily?"

Aurora Astraealis
"There is no release for a soul stained with sin!"

War and Peace
"As by force we rule, so for honor we protect."

Downtown of the Auradé
"For every flower in the city of Erys, there's a criminal in Downtown."

Whitehaven at Night
"Whitehaven in the night... Is a sight to rival that of Erys..."

Gemise's theme
"It doesn't hurt to be half demon. The things people say are the things that hurt."

Treacherous Road
"This treacherous road is a danger to anyone who would try to traverse it."

The Bells did fall
"If the demons are in my head, then so be it! By the power invested in me as the head bishop! I doth exorcise thee!"

Light amidst Dark
"You're just gonna sit there with that sour look on your face all day, aren't you?"

The Dark and The Cold
"How can you end it all... When you're doomed to live forever...?"

These are 100% original.
Please enjoy listening to them, but unfortunately for those who'd use them, they are reserved only for use in my game, "The Curse of Greigh Manor".

I will happily consider doing commissions for a fair price.
If you want me to make you a piece, send me a PM with details for the style and feel of what you want, and I'll quote you a price. I will accept payment by Paypal or Cash sent by post* and will send you the full quality MP3 and OGG when I receive the payment. If requested I will also make a midi version for you.

So I took up arms and decided to do some composing of my own.
Greigh Manor is a huge, once stately home that fell into disrepair. It used to host lots of parties for the nobles and such, before a family scandal saw it ruined. After a mob of villiagers saw it's last inhabitant slayed and pilliaged most of the place, it has been left to gather dust, ghosts and spiderwebs.
Greigh Manor BGM
This is the BGM I made for Greigh Manor using Anvil Studio.

I used the above piece to create a more fast paced battle theme for the antagonist himself.
Greigh is a deranged phantom who likes fight in a manner comparable with dancing.
His years of solidute and private suffering has driven him far beyone the barriers of sanity.
Greigh relishes the fun he has while fighting, as inside he has an embittered view of the world that he gained as a child.
Tell me what you think!
Greigh's Battle Theme

I started kind of afresh with this piece, still revolving around the same few chords though. I wanna see how much I can juice out of these babies.
The common battles you encounter in Greigh house are monstrosities created from all kinds of things. They range from Secret agents to creatures made from animated sowing needles. These battles tend to mostly be fast paced with animated battlers. I aimed to make it to have a decent flow but not epic enough to be a boss battle.
Minor Battle music

Just as a break from the pattern, I needed to make a bit of a strange piece.
Within Greigh Manor, there are many malevolent spirits that like to play with the minds of those who are inside the house. One of a few recurring events during Zack's time in the Manor, is the appearance of a poltergeist. It's presence is denoted by the playing of a dischordant piano piece. However... One cannot predict what a poltergeist does...
You can just listen and prepare for the worst.
The Poltergeist's Piano

I had an idea in my head, so I took to Anvil studio and Voila.
"Karene Xenia Weistel Ul-Skelane" is one of three demon princesses. She fights with two large cleavers that are shackled to her wrists on long chains. Karene has a soft apperance, with her silver hair wrapped in a bun, and her glasses perched on her nose, but underneath is a sadistical creature who has succumbed to the demon inside her long ago.
Karene's theme

The menu of Greigh Manor has it's own music.
This piece is supposed to be melancholy, with a hint of vanilla.
I can't really say much more because I didn't really have an idea in mind, but it came out like this anyway.
Revelations

"What is this...? This is just... Odd... Unsettling..."
I needed your generic "It's been there all along..." Kind of music. This piece utilises reverse cymbal and seashore effects to capture the bizzareness of the situation, short, heartbeat like drums to assimilate a feeling of foreboding, and the Glockenspiel to add in those little bits of loneliness.
Something Wrong

Angelo Cielo - Trapped in his own hell since the mythical age.
Cielo was a proud angel warrior who strongly believed in his master and his master's aims. Tricked by the force of decay, he was trapped in a mirror. Dragging hapless victims into his mirror, he thinks they are decay itself, and thus sees it as his duty to destroy them completely.
He considers himself to be a noble gentleman, and acts accordingly.
Angelo Cielo

wowww that is some neat composing
could do a load more with it though - its an excellent basis
i picture you hear this in flashbacks and in normal situations, but once things get creepy and dangerous it'll transform into some dramatic orchestral piece.

it kind of reminds me of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fur86y7dQJ4
- in a very good way

so if you would be so kind as to dramatize the shit out of this.
i'll reward you with things

This is the theme you hear throughout the manor itself.
You hear the second set of strings that comes in about a third of the way through?
That's the prominent riff throughout the game, So I plan on playing at that, and developing it.
Like you said, it's a good basis.
I'm actually working on the theme of the main antagonist, Greigh.
I am incorporating many of the patterns from this into it and indeed dramatising the shit out of it.

And so I plan on using a few orchestral hits, adding in a little basoon and violin in the background
The bassoon will create a more integral base for the piece and the violin will carry a more intricate background melody.

Also, What things? =o

i like your take on that
i don't know where you get your ideas, but that's some battle music for sure
the pace is excellent, the melody is adapted well, and it loops?
the only thing for me to point out would be the drums, and especially in the last part.
that part feels too empty for me to be the 'finale' of the piece,
might want to consider throwing an extra set of strings in which has a melody that conflicts with the main one,
this'll give that extra 'pressure' feel.

I love the minor battle loop. it begins immediately with nothing close to a break, and I like the variety that is shown throughout the piece. The organ/church thing seems to be a little bit random in its going up and down, but that's nothing bad.

With the poltergeist piece, it seems to work well as a theme or place music- it sounds a bit like a one time music that should be played for a scene somewhere. It's randomness works well for it, but making it look sort of takes the random feeling out and makes it seem like some half-way able guy is banging his hands on the keyboard.

It's a bit unfair if you come in here after god knows how long, and expect attention without giving it yourself.
I personally don't mind, but generally people are more inclined to put effort into these kind of things if they'd receive it first.
