Youtube Me!
Getting your game on the net
Ever wondered how people get videos they make onto the Internet? It's easy, simple, and free if you know what you are doing.
This tutorial uses two programs:
- Camstudio (free, downloadable off the Internet - do a Google search)
- Windows Movie Maker (I assume this comes with WinXP and Vista, but I am not sure)
Step One: Making your Game
You have to have something to video first. Set out your game how you want it, making sure everything is perfect.
Step Two: Camstudio
Open Camstudio. Click options > video options. Choose the quality you want for your video, and the framerate.
Now open your RMXP project, and Camstudio, at the same time.
Test Play your game.
Go into Camstudio, click Region - fixed region. Change Width and Height to 640x480, or if you are using a custom resolution / RMVX then to whatever resolution your game is using.
Click "OK".
Now in Camstudio press the large round button. Move the flashing box over your game screen and click.
Play through the section of your game now, and then press the blue square in Camstudio to stop. Save your video somewhere you'll remember later.
Step Three: Windows Movie Maker
Open WMM.
Click import video, and choose your video file.
Now drag and drop the clips that show up into the "storyboard":
Do this for all of the video clips in your video until you end up with your full video. You can also import images you have made, and sound (drag this to the bar underneath the storyboard).
You may want to add title and credits. To add a title, click "Tools > Titles and Credits". Choose add title, or add credits. Type in what you want it to say, and click add title to movie.
Now you need to save this as a video. Choose file > save movie file.
Youtube
You need to be registered on Youtube to do this.
Go to youtube, and click "upload".
Type in your details, pretty self explanatory. Then choose "upload video", and choose your new video file.
And you're done!
To post your video link, copy and paste it from the "My Videos" page (account > my videos):
When you're done you'll have a video, like this:
