Yet another question...

I realize that I may seem to be rather inexperienced with all of this (because I am), but I've come across another problem with Ccoa's UMS script. In my game, when a character is thinking, I want the words to come up with a completely transparent text box. Problem is that the text box, instead of being transparent, becomes black and the left side, and eases into a transparent right-side. Is it meant to do this, or do I just suck at life? Any help would be great, while any criticism towards me is welcome.

lol. Well, i don't think it's because you suck at life. Enter this line of code before your text : \opc[0]

That says that your changing the window opacity to 0 (meaning none) or whatever you want. That should work.  :thumb:

HHmmmm...That's very strange. What version of the UMS do you have? The newest one?, because I use the same script and it works fine for me.

The only thing that comes to mind for me right away is that you may be having script interferences. You could try removing the scripts you have that you've added one by one, leaving the UMS, then playtest, and just try this over and over until you figure out what script was causing the problem. If that makes sense...

Another quick and easy way to do this, which requires no script, is to just go to your first pg. of event commands in your event, and then do Change Text Options->Hide(4th one down)...Then when your characters are done thinking, change it back with Change Text Options->Show.

Hope that helped.  :thumb:

Okay, I just downloaded it again, but this time, it wouldn't let me open the design mode (no idea what its actually called...), where you make the games, so I'm gonna try downloading it again. I looked at the description page in the folder, and I realized that I was looking for the back opacity. I tried setting that to zero, but the same problem occurs.

Edit: Yeah, I downloaded it again, and the same problem occurred; it won't open the project.

huh, that's so strange. I'm running out of ideas.

I don't know if this matters, but do you have the RTP installed? That might be it, and also, check rpgrevolution for the original UMS(Where I got it). Try that one.

It basically reduced the total size of your game. Note that this is good. It basically just compresses data, so it takes up less space. That's it. Weather it will effect the UMS or not, i have no idea, but it's worth a try.

The RTP isn't a script, it's the default resources (audio, graphics, etc.) that come with the RMXP program. If you have RMXP installed, you also have the RTP.

And, no, it won't affect any script or anything like that to have it installed. Sorry!

By my understanding, though, that black-to-transparent gradient must be an image in either the Pictures folder or the System folder. If you take that image and replace it with a completely transparent image of the same name and resolution, the script should use that transparent image instead. It seems awfully roundabout, and I swear that there's some command to reduce the window opacity, but hopefully this will work anyway.
