Xbox 360 transfer save data issue

Anyway.

I am having a problem here. You see, I played Eternal Sonata on someone elses 360 up till this point and now that I have my own, i wanted to transfer the data over to it. Problem is, when i put it on a memory card and try to copy or move it over to MY hard drive, it says "This item cannot be transfered between profiles"

Now, I tried to copy his profile over and put it on my 360, hoping that would help, but the thing is, on the memory, it says 'unknown profile'.

Therefore, my question is... is there ANYWAY to transfer this memory over to my 360?! I seriously don't want to start all the way over since i got to chapter 5 (about 18 hours in). I dont know much about transfering data, but this is a tad rediculous!

Just so you know, unlike many 360 games, this one asks you to choose a destination when you save (unless you have something else in, the only option being your harddrive).

Any and all help would be much appriciated *twitch* because I am about ready to throw this thing out the window if copying data is seriously this complicated. I know i dont get the achievement points, but just being able to pick up where i left off would be nice!

In any case, it will probably involve opening your console, voiding your support/warranty, and the soldering of an extra microchip or chipboard.

I always thought making saved data specific to a profile was fucking ridiculous and I don't know of a way to transfer it. Can you play off your profile on your friend's harddrive and choose to save it on your memory card?

dude, it means that you created the save under a gamertag different from your own. you can ONLY play that save on his gamertag and there is no mod you could do that i know of that would enable you to use it on your gamertag. getting the data to or from the different 360s isn't relevant to the real problem at hand. you may be able to transfer the data using XSATA, but it still won't load under your gamertag. if you signed on to his gamertag on your xbox 360, then the data would load, but there's no way to transfer the saves between two gamertags unless the particular game allows it (most games do, but some games such as DOA4 are tied to your gamertag).

I was thinking of doing that; but I wasnt sure if it would work. I was looking at things and it said if i had xbox live, i could recover the profile from there or something. If that is what you are refering too. I could get him to put in the password or whatever else is needed; but if that works, i'll go with it! Thanks! I'll give it a try! Here's to hoping it works~

Yeah, the 360 just proved how retarted of a console it is through this ALONE. God, why did I buy this thing again? Oh yeah. Eternal Sonata... damnit...

The PS3, man, i dont even need to go out and buy a memory unit (30 bucks for 64 MB?! Give me a break!). I can use a flash drive to transport memory! Or my PSP, or even the PC. You can transfer your memory so easily in so many fashions. I got a 2 gig flash drive for $20 bucks; and at least i dont have to worry about 'no transfer of data between profiles' on games that FORCE you to use a profile to save! Why cant it just, i dunno, save to the hard drive to let you easily move things around via a memory unit or something else?! Gah! *kicks the 360*

All i know is this gamertag download thing better work...!! I totally don't want to start over, again. I dont mind not getting the achievement points i got so far, i just want to be able to continue where i left off, because i left off right after getting my 4th party level and i want to see the new goodies!!

If you send an email to xbox they are supposed to send you a cable for transferring this data....but there are certain requirements....they just mess you around tbh.

I just want to make sure but... this cable isnt anything like the one that comes with the elite or anything right? That completely wipes your harddrive clean to copy data over? Because my sister's fiance wouldnt appreciate that...

I also cant seem to find an email that directs to softwear problems... only hardwear and xbox live. And I am pretty sure this would be concidered a softwear problem? Or something, since it's just data... not sure...

You will never be able to play that save under your gamertag, so I don't know what exactly you're trying to do.
