Would someone be so kind as to post some light pictures?

I notice that lots of games are using light pictures for candles, flashlights, lampposts, etc...

Do any of you have a wide variety of pictures to use for these? If so, could you post all the ones you have? Thanks...

Also, is there a simpler way to code this, what I am doing so far is I make an event that is a candle/torch whatever, and I have it set to parallel process.

Change variable TorchX -> This Event ScreenX
Change variable TorchY -> This Event ScreenY
Change variable TorchY -> subtract 20
Show picture 1 (light, 100 opacity or so, TorchX, TorchY)

problem is I need 2 variables for each torch/light on the map. Is there a more efficient way of doing this?

You'll be hard pushed to find premade flashlight pictures and stuff, unless you request for tehm to be made for you. Nearly everyone makes their own, to fit the style of their game. As for the coding, do you mean for a stationary lightsource, or one that stays with the player?

Stationary.

My example works, I'm just wondering if there's a more efficient way to do it that doesnt involve having the event be paralle process or need 2 variables for every light on the map.

Actually, you don't need any variables for stationary lighting effects. You can do it through 1 picture or a fog. It also makes it look more natural. Just prt sc the map, open it in a program like Photoshop, then add a new layer and fill it black. Then change the transparency of that layer to about 40, or higher if you want it darker. Then select the softest eraser, and draw where you want the light to go. Then delete the layer with the map on it, and save as a .png. Then in XP, import your image as a fog, and display it on the map as 225 and 100%. Done.
