This weekend has been pretty exciting at the Worlds Championship.
On Thursday night, they inducted the newest class into the Hall of Fame:
Dirk Baberowski
Mike Turian
Jelger Wiegersma
Olivier Ruel
Ben Rubin
I'm personally a big fan of Olivier Ruel, so I'm glad to see him up there. Speaking of Olivier Ruel, was anyone disappointed that he didn't even make it into the Top 8 this weekend? Of course, Shuuhei Nakamura took the Player of the Year title, and Aaron Nicastri was able to hold onto his lead and become the 2008 Rookie of the Year.
The American Team won the team tournament, which was sweet. But as always, everyone is focused on the individual Top 8.
Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa
Jamie Parke
Frank Karsten
Tsuyoshi Ikeda
Antti Malin
Akira Asahara
Kenji Tsumura
Hannes Kerem
American player Jamie Parke made it to the finals of the individual competition. Unfortunately though, the Finn Antti Malin just won it, three games to one.
There was a lot of Faeries (as always; I'm just waiting for them to cycle out of Standard) including the winning deck, and some rogue decks made it pretty far, which I liked (I'm a fan of the "Boat-Brew" Bantoine/Lark build) and in the Extended field Elves! didn't dominate like they did at Pro Tour Berlin, so it looks like the DCI made the right move by not banning any compontents of Elves!.
There has been a lot more, so lets generate some discussion to build off of. So what did you all think of this weekend's Worlds Championships, or maybe the 2008 season in general?
