So my friends sucked me back into world of warcraft.  I kicked the habit a few years before showing up here because it was RUINING MY LIFE but they were all "just come back for the summer" and i think I'm hooked again D:

Anyway let's talk about WoW, either the game itself or HOW TO QUIT because I'm really interested in both.

I've currently got a level 70 BE hunter (alliance sucks horde wuz here) and while I LOVE the hunter class I'm finding the endgame is just balls.  All I do is log in for the PVP/SSO dailies and then play my alts - why are the first 20 or so levels of this game AMAZING and the rest is mediocre?  Where the hell does the magic go?

Also I got a beta key for the expansion - DEATH KNIGHTS ARE AWESOME but very overpowered, and the initial DK starting zone gets pretty boring as it's twice as long as other starting areas and you're FORCED TO PLAY IT.  You can't just say "fuck you" and go play elsewhere like with other classes, you can't leave till you complete the chain.  Northrend is really fun though, and having 2 level 68 areas instead of one will make it much less of a crowded clusterfuck than last time OH GOD HELLFIRE PENINSULA

It's just what you said. After the first 20 levels, the magic goes pling. If someone makes me start playing now, I will probably play 3 days then bore myself.

although i quit retail a few months ago and i now play private servers.
trust me. quit playing retail version of WoW and join World of Chris private server. it will keep you less hooked, and it is much better anyways. trust me. oh and its free!

Now, you see, I thought the first 20 levels were SUPER, then there was about 20 levels of Meh, then 40-60 was SUPER again. I spend a long time at the level 60 end-game, in a casual raiding guild (think, we never actually full cleared MC). But then, something happened.  My guild disbanded, and my friends scattered to different servers. My guildies. My homies. I simply lost interest, abruptly, and quit. A year later, BC is back and so am I, and over the next couple of weeks (an hour or two a day of playing) I find another guild with some old friends in it, and things are great. Then that guild breaks up. I quit for pretty much another year (about 2 months into BC to about June) before my brother wants to play, so I start up again for him. I've been playing for the past couple of months, and I'm happy. My brother plays, I've made some new friends.

Simply put, I like WoW for the game it is, but I keep playing it for my friends. Without a good social group in there, I just don't play. Same thing with most MMOs.

Also, I HATE that they release new expansions in the winter. I've got frikkin upper division science to do here.

Sell it. You have a beta key, people want it, get rid of it. At least if you play it in the future you'll get to enjoy the early levels & starting over. End game sucks. Is why I've managed to play on and off a few years and never hit 60 (and then, never hit 70). ^_^

Only keep it now because my gf likes to play it with me sometimes.

They are SUCH an amazing class, kind of OP though.  They're like a melee based DOT class.  That can also tank using a 2h.

I play Guild Wars because i dont have to PAY2PLAY

Guild wars 2 is due out fairly soon and it has everything WoW has but free. The end of the world is near, the end of the world is WoW

Level 70 Blood Elf Rogue in full epics here, as well as a 70 Undead Mage in 90% epics and a bunch of alts. WoW is fun, but lately I found myself drifting in an out of it. I used to have fun with endgame, but right now I just don't care about it. In a month or two the big reset button of WotLK is going to be pushed and all that raiding for gear becomes meaningless within 2-3 levels. So I'm sort of just chilling until the expansion hits. I mess around with alts from time to time, but I don't play anywhere near as much as I used to. Nowadays I'm on for maybe an hour a day.

I'm actually considering trying out Final Fantasy 11 while I wait for WotLK. The Vana'diel Collection looks like a crazy bargain.  :lol:

If FF11 could be partied/soloed with just two people, my gf and I would probably be all over it. I love a lot of the concepts in there, and breeding chocobos? Hell yeah.

But I like bouncing around in WoW. Jumping is fun.

And I've played wow but I was never too into it, I was more interested in stuff like Gunz or Silkroad(which are both free, hmmm) but I kind of stopped playing those too. Just waiting for some online D3 is all.

Here's how I quit: I rolled a pally since beta.

Of course now they add death knights. There's so much more you could do, like play other games or wait until WAR comes out if you really need MMOs that badly. Or convince your friends to try other games, that's really the only thing that keeps most people playing MMORPGs.

Best part, ixis, about being a pally since beta. They're getting another upheaval in WotLK. That makes, what is it? three complete reworkings of the Paladin class?

i agree. i got to 40 whm and 60 bard, and then at that point it was something stupid like 7million exp to the next level (and enemies at the time were capped at 300exp), and my regular party was always on at random times, so i just totally lost all interest :/

Eh I have a level 60 of every class except for a lock and mage, those I managed to get to 40 before I got insanely bored of both classes.

I have 2 hunters, one raid spec, the other not so much. My final character I played was my level 70 epic'd out paladin, I was also main tank of one of the top 10 guilds for a while before I ran out of money to play, thus that was the end of my WoW life for a time, maybe one day I'll consider playing again, but for now I will leave it along to work on my own game.

Not to mention I've never played alliance, I hate it with an un-dieing passion.
