World Above

Were a star quenched on high,
For ages would its light,

World Above follows Ravis Arklen and his best friend Strife, two recent graduates from the prestige swordsman training class under Master Nexille.  Eight years ago, Ravis's father left on a seemingly routine hunt for firewood.  His father never came back. 

Their story begins after graduating from Master Nexille's class. Strife decides to head home to Athlen to meet his parents, and Ravis has nothing better to do than go with him, with the hidden agenda of hopefully finding his lost father.  He soon finds out that he is indeed alive, but Ravis and Strife will have to go to great lengths to locate his long lost father.



Systems, Features, Etc:
Recruiting System - Recruit up to eight party members to join your cause, and pick any two to fight with Ravis and Strife!
Complex Dungeons - Each dungeon is unique in its own way and requires its own specific tool to complete, like hookshots or boomerangs!
Intense Battles Utilizing Tankentai and Kaduki Battlers - Difficult battles that requires thought rather than button mashing, using the Tankentai battle system with Kaduki-styled battlers!




A Few Development Notes:

This game was first being developed in XP, but made the transfer over to VX recently, and has since been in intense development for the past few weeks.  A demo is in the works, most like with around 2 hours of playtime.  Three mini-dungeons have been developed, but a full-fledged dungeon has yet to be implemented.  There are two bosses as of now that pose a bit of a challenge but nothing special. 



Wanna Help?

If you wanna help out, I could use a title screen song.  I could also use a few more Kaduki battlers with full eight-square faces with different expressions.  These would be used to make more recruitable characters which would make the game a lot more awesome.  As of now I only have eight available, and would like to expand that to twenty or so.  I could also use a large iconset.  I haven't spent the time looking for one, and I would like a custom one anyway.

There's plenty of other things I could use too!  If your interested, drop me a PM.  Don't worry, I don't bite.

I got an error after a battle: ABS: Unnattained method: nil class
Only got up to the first puzzle before that stopped me.
It's actually rather good.

So I downloaded this because of the lack of replies. I think youre very annoying but its not fair when I see an overlooked game, so I decided to take a shot. Usually games with low replies are usually gems, so downloading I went.

I uploaded it and waited to play when all of a sudden I got blue screened.

At first I thought it was my PC (which is new, btw) so I re-loaded it two more times, each with the same outcome.

Thanks dude, shit made my computer crash.
 
Strange, it works fine for me, no loading problems. I did get an "Unable to find BGM 'Boss'" when I followed the passage in the fourth save file and kept going left though.
 
Um, I don't know if this is only happening to me, but there are a LOT of script errors that shut down the game. I'm now saving about every 30 seconds because I've had to redo so many things. Other than that, it's a fun and entertaining game.
 
Big Update:


I've been playing through the game a bit, and I've come to a decision.


I'm not satisfied with my game right now. Tons of errors, I'm using maps from example map and other open source projects, mainly due to laziness because I'm a decent mapper, and I don't think I'm telling the good story I have written down so well. So, I'm basically going to do a revamp of the whole project. First off, I'm going to tell it in chapter to make it all easier to manage, I guess. The entire first hour or so is being scrapped becuase I just think it's terrible. I'm switching to version 2.6 of tankentai because It's a LOT less buggy and the best version, and I'm trying to make it more linear.

I plan on keeping some of the funnest parts of it, though. I absolutely love the Gnorr Mountain dungeon, I worked a long time on that, and Athlen is staying, but the rest is being re-mapped, and totally re-done.
