WIP Wizard Apprentice critique please

I was wondering if i could get some critique on my very first character with this template.

here is my second attempt at the wizard apprentice, this time with a robe.
the shirtless guy was my first attempt, but i lost the file in a computer crash...


my goal is to be as detailed as possible without making it look like its too much.

First thing I notice is the hair in the eye. It looks off putting and odd to look at. The pants are pillowshaded as well along with the hair and boots. To be honest, it doesnt really look like a wizard, more like a warrior. I think the whole torn pants is kind of unnecessary., mainly because he would probably get a new pair of pants.

I have to remake him again.

as for shading, i guess i didnt notice it being pillowshaded, i'll fix it,
in rmxp the light is coming from the top-left, right?

maybe i'll give him some sort of robe... haha.

check back in about an hour and i'll see what i can do by then.
