[WIP]Windowskins by Zabby

Okay. I made this topic before but I have worked on two more windowskins as well. Pointers and criticism are welcome, but don't just say "looks ugly!" and leave it at that. As mentioned in my previous topic, some effects were added with photoshop, or just minorly adjusted from the default windowskin.

Gothic Lace:
As suggested by a forum member (don't remember who), I made the enemy cursors pointed at an angle instead.

A Touch of Brass:
The pause cursor is supposed to be a feather. The colours made me think of classy or bookish or sunny and a quill or feather could apply to either of those.

Stone Age:
This is my least favourite one. After making the arrowhead battle cursors I got tired of it and just added a stone texture to everything. It could work for some setttings, however.

Finally, the pause cursor for stone age and gothic lace needs work. I wanted a colour gradient that waxed and waned (if those terms can be applied to this) but nothing too chaotic.

I like them.. And I'm no fan of the windowskins, frankly I hate the things :P But these are good ;)
The second one is my favourite

The gothic arrows need some cleanup after the tilt, they look pretty photoshoppy. Stoneage scales a bit weirdly, might look better if you could make the background tileable but that is a lot of work :p all in all though, as usual, I like your style. Keep working on it, WS are a good place to start getting into spriting and as I have always said, you should get into spriting. You'll be good at it. Brass rocks, actually, it is one of the nicest WS I have seen in a long time, and gothic just needs some cleanup.

Why the hell are two college students fighting a horrible raugwyrm beast?

Paradox: I used a feather from google images as a reference, but I used the feather icon from RTP to touch up the colouring and style of it a bit. Didn't want to directly use an image I couldn't credit.

Erk: I will perhaps use a brush to fix up the stoneage when I feel like looking at that one again. I really only wanted something to fit the arrowhead cursors I made.

What do you mean by touching up the pointers? Make them smoother? Zoom in and clean up pixel mess? Take the outline and colour them myself a bit better? I can see what is meant for the most part, since rotating them shifted the pixels in a weird way.

Thanks for the comments everyone. To find out why two college students are battling a raugwyrm you will have to play the game... "Dizzy and Kai's Excellent Adventure" and the sequel "Dizzy and Kai's Bogus Journey".

Zooming in and cleaning up the pixel mess is what I'd do.

What about Making the Grade? Are you making a joke? Or do they really travel to the Raugsfot mountains? You crazy girl.

Awesome Bro

the second one is class! Well done!

I find it wierd that I've made "X" amount of tilesets/add-ons etc yet i still don't know how to properly design a window skin :/

I need those templates that are lurking around and a quick tutorial me thinks. Write one up, Zabby ... You know you want to! :)

$t3vo: I would just export the default windowskin from RPG Maker and play with it in the Gimp or Photoshop (filters, colour changes, brushes, etc). I don't know if you have read the help file that comes with RPG Maker or not, but it explains quite well each part, how they have to be positioned, and what parts are set to be transparent or stretching borders, etc etc. I can't really write a tutorial because I am not much of an artist, and mostly play around once I have an idea in my head.

Erk: I plan on redoing Making the Grade, yes. The rest was a joke (Bill and Ted didn't go to Raugsfot, either!)
