[WIP]Cloud Strife

I just started working on a sprite for fun, figured, you know, what would be more fun to make, then cloud... Only try to make him look awesome... As opposed to the stupid purple jumpsuit, and not as ladylike as in advent children.

This is what I came up with:

And a 4x magnification:

What do y'all think? What needs improvement?

Any advice is appreciated.

Okay, these are the most recent revisions:

I followed Legacy's advice about the sleeve needing folds, I fixed the hair up a bit, and added some linear shading on the straps for his sleeve and sash. I don't want to change the eyes... But I tried decreasing the contrast about 30%, and I honestly think I like it.

That probably one of the best Clouds I've seen. You could probably contrast the mid area a bit more. That hair is simply amazing.

indeed, it's pretty rare to find a decent cloud lately, anyway, nice hair. But you need to erase that fold on his left leg, since it's too dark. Try using a lighter tone for folds...

Woot!!
That's uber!
I have no more minor advice for you except folding, yes, this time on the other clothing, like pants, that left arm thingy, etc.

I don't like how the biggest spike is shaded, the colors just seem to much of a jump from dark to light. But overall, this is a very nicely done Cloud.

I love it, but being the insane FF7 fan that I am, I just want to ask a few things. Why is part of his chest showing? Why no Cloudy Wolf pendant on his left shoulder? It looks to me like his right arm is out and his left is back some, but I just noticed this.

Other than that, I was really, really amazed at how nice it looks.

There is a good cloud charset!? Maybe there's a god too!
The only thing missing is the pendant on his shoulder (as stated above)

Oh, and if you look at my avatar he has a collar aswell.

Nod, his shirt in AC is just like his sleeveless turtle-neck sweatshirt (vertical lines on it (it's the fabric, though; not real lines)) from the original except that it has a zipper on it, and I don't think it was actually a turtle-neck in the original come to think of it...

I think you have a bunch of unnecessary colors in there- look at the shirt sleeve and you'll see what I mean.

But mostly it's decent. Why waste your talent spriting a character that's been made way too many times?

Where the sprite loosk decent in normal view, pillowshading shows clearly when zoomed. Also, on the largest spkie, where the pixel number jumps from one pixel, then two, then one again on the upper line, keep it at two, it'll look better.

If you want to keep it as realistic as the character make the eyes a bit more greener and not as bright, but colours that still shine.

Also as the strap on his body goes down, it clusters in a chink, trim it aswell as not using pure black as the colour and using two dark grey clours to shade it.

Hope that helps a bit.

/\ Bit late aren't you? (Despain)

Great sprite! Only think that I can see "bad" is the eyes seem a bit too tall. But then that's just me.

Uh, yeah, the wold pendent thing was a bit hard to do. So I just blurred a small block of silver onto it. I just forgot to turn that layer back on in photoshop... *Shakes fist*

As for the chest showing, well, this isn't a total ripoff of advent children. I changed a lot of stuff around for this one. Notice my unique touches, like the boots. Those boots were entirely unique to the character, and personally, I think they fit him better than those cowboy boots in advent children, and the brown ones in the game. I mean, cloud in steel-toed boots? Pure awesome.

I decided to go back to the jumpsuit look, except with a black one instead. I liked the one-sleeve/sash look from advent children, and I also liked the metal bangle from VII, but I couldn't decide which to do. I just chose both. That leather glove was kind of gay looking anyway. As for the sweater thing, I didn't like that much, so I decided to give his jumpsuit a v-cut down to the bottom of his sternum, and then pop only one half of a collar on there.

And you were right about the arm. It did look a little strange, so I made it so that they body overlayed the bangle, instead of those edges going over the hips.

I tried a lower collar, but I think a higher collar just kind of looked better. As for the arm thing, it's just because the arm with the sleeve is darker. It just looks that way. There's nothing I can do about that.
