So, in an attempt to get a military grunt I came up with this. I failed, but I like the design anyways so I figure I can make this. Let me know what you think, it's in the very early stages. To me, it looks like a goofy 17 year old trying to be an adventurer, or something like that. Seems feminin, even though I used the male template.

It's the wings. Trust me. Hats with wings are usually feminine, probably due to the Norse valkyries wearing helmets with wings on them. Thats my theory, anyway. Also, your colors are a bit in the extreme. Use softer reds and golds and see how that looks.
