Windows XP "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" To Mac OSX

So I'm planning to buy a new Macbook running Mac OSX, and I've got this buttload of files on my PC that I really want to keep. I don't really care about my settings on windows as its going to be OSX and I'll have fun getting used to a whole new OS, but I would like to keep all my files. SO, I was wondering if there is a way to use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to do so.
I probably could easily just put my user's documents on an external HDD, but I'm afraid some files might become corrupt.

So the question is; what is the easiest way to transfer all my old files onto a mac?

(And don't say "Don't buy a mac" :P)

1) You have the same name as me! Yay!

2) Yes, if you go to an apple store then a genius (that's what the clerk's are called there) will do it for you if you bring in your old pc and your new macbook. This might be the safest and the fastest way (save the time you took to go to the apple store.)

3)... I am so jealous! I am currently saving up for a macbook now!

Files and settings transfer wizard won't do the trick, but if you use it to burn your stuff to a cd/dvd you should then be able to copy it back off the cd/dvd to your mac with varying levels of success. I'd do what Xaixis suggested and just take it to an apple store though if you're not confident you know where to put things.

A'ight. Thanks for the answers guys. :) I can't wait to get one @_@ They might cost an arm and a leg, but OSX totally rapes Vista. In the butt.

Its really because I have like 13G of files that are pretty important to me, and I don't wanna get a new computer and be all "well... Lets start from scratch! Weoohoo!" cause that would really suck trying to get all that stuff back XD

Of course, you won't be getting the full experience. It requires a slight amount of technical know-how. You'll need to know all your PC hardware information, and a lot of the time you won't be able to get the correct *.kext for your hardware (similar to drivers).

You'll probably want a MacBook Pro though- The only upside to a MacBook, is if you have the Polycarbonate one, you can get it converted into a Tablet PC for 1299USD. As for the file transfer, I believe that the Apple Store will only transfer files at purchase.

Better to buy the Modbook straight out IMO but that's a fricking fortune. I considered it but I'd rather have a slightly cheaper true Tablet PC and run OSx86 in a VM.

Considering that you wouldn't get tablet functionality in the VM- Good luck.

You mean the pressure sensitivity? It should pass through as a wacom HID device, there's nothing magical about a tablet screen. It's just an integrated wacom (or knockoff) digitizer hooked up to an internal USB interface.

That might or might not be the issue, but i've been having a hell of a party trying to get my tablet to work in VirtualBox and VMWare.

Hm, that's interesting. I'll probably be giving this a shot when I get my new tablet toward the end of the year, I'll let you know if I come up with anything.
