Windows 7 Help

Hi there RMVX community, it's been a very long time since I've been here!

I have a quick question that I hope you guys can help me with.

For some reason when I try to Playtest my game in RMVX, the playtest completely freezes upon loading. The popup for the game loads up, it goes to a black screen, mouse disappears and that's that. Nothing else. Just Stops Responding, and I have to ctrl-alt-del to delete it.

I'm running it under Administrative mode and it does the same thing. Help?

Any reason why you blame Win7? Your problem doesn't really sound like an OS-related one, but more like an error during installation or something. It might also have something to do with other software you're running, or (theoretically) your hardware.

Personally, I run RMVX on Win7 64bit, Intel Core, with no problems or differences to my previous XP or Vista installs.

I also have a Win7! there are some lesser, minor problems. For exampole I need to open my GAMEMAKER 6 projects but I cant since GM6 is "too old". Therefore I will never ever be able to upload these game or publish them. Another problem with Windows 7 is actually this problem that I also encountered. When I dowload RMXP Games (exe files) I open them and the screen freezes in a white-filled window. Same problem. Win7 is very fast but cannot handle "old stuff" or nearly new stuff either. I am sorry..

While it is true that Win7 doesn't run every program from the past, it's still not as simple as saying "a program is too old". For an example's sake, I perfectly run Theme Hospital on my PC, which is just a little older than GM6. IMO, similar to Vista, most problems arise from the combination of inexperience of the user and the fact that "everyone else has those problems too"... personally, I've NEVER had any compatibility problems I couldn't solve. Sure, sometimes it needed a patch, or even clicking a checkbox, but I seriously never came across any program or game I couldn't launch, and I can'T imagine Game Maker 6 not running on 7 either.
Please don't take this offensive or anything, I'm just trying to say having a closer look into things often solves issues (favourite quote regarding that: "Windows 7 won'T let me use Photoshop plugins running on 64bit - XP was so much better!").

Anyway, since that's not really topic-related, please focus on solving munins problem.

@munin: It just occured to me that you might run an infinite loop script. Try running a new project please, if you didn't already.

@BlueScope: Youre absolutely right, but as I said there are minor problems that you rarely encounter. So this makes Win7 a lot lot better than the Vista. Well GM6 doesn't work you can tr if you want. Any gm6 exe file wont work either. Not normally anyeay; but maybe you can change that in properties. But you should open a gm6 exe file without problems, but there are minor problems!
