Wild Card Studios Project Demo up for Critisizm ( Added Screen Shots)

The project Wild Card Studios is working on does not as of now have a chosen name.
Story is still under development, which will be apparent during this demo.
This is merely for criticism on material that is already here, suggestions on what
                                      could be added, etc.

Note before you play the demo:

Intro
(without any official story telling) A young boy start his day just like any other, leaving for his training (class based on choice). It is his final day of training in the class chosen, and he official becomes a swordsman/archer/sage. Before visiting your mother's grave site with the rest of the family, you must obtain a package from your father's friend. What the young boy doesn't realize, is what will transpire at Steel's Pond..( again, without any official story telling)

Notes:
Due to incomplete storyline and mainly game play-testing, the begging of the demo will start out with the player choosing their class, ( the fact that your sister's picture appears during this will be removed shortly.)
Gameplay:
Is an action battle system, players can equip items to hot keys, and attack primarily via the space bar.

Scripts
  SDK I
            Anti Lag by Near Fantastica
            Particle Engine by arevulopapo
            Ring Menu by Dubealex
RTH action battle system by RTH
            Damage Style by Unknown

Also, to get to "Steel's Pond" the player must push the space bar rather than just walking into it, a mistake I will quickly fix
Again, if there are any comments what so ever, We'll be glad to have them. thanks.

Most people here will be weary to download a demo without knowing anything about it. Would you mind updating your post with some screenshots, or at least some in-depth information (as per the rules)?

That's just it, there's not a whole lot of in-depth info, i just want comments on the demo! but i will put up screen shots and try to come up with more info.

It's not that you need more screenshots. We are going to need information on the plot and characters though. So far the plot you have seems extremely cliche and unoriginal and needs some work. How many games have you played where the main character is a teenage boy who is training to become a swordsman, archer or wizard? Let me guess, he lives in a small village. And of course one of his parents is dead. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but after seeing very similar plots countless times it gets a little annoying. I'm not saying scratch your whole game-but rewriting the plot to add originality could help.

Can you give us some information on the characters please? And your mapping could use some work as well. For starters, the house map is too large which makes it seem like it has too much empty space. Making the size of the room smaller by adding more of the ceiling autotile will make the room smaller. I suggest posting some maps in the Mapping Improvement Thread at RM Discussion and checking out some tutorials to get you going.

We'll keep all that in mind sleuth, again, we were working on game play and feel, and working on story once we got down the foundation. that was just a filler until we get everything set, this isn't a set game. But thanks for the comments.

If this is the case, would'nt this belong better in CD?

We are sure intro doesn't equal entire game plot, but we agree highly with previous comments about cliche stories, that's the last thing we want to present to gamers, and while the cliche is not totally avoidable, there are ways of presenting a story in a more unique way. We will take our time to develop a story and then when ready, re-post for more criticism.

If I may ask, who is We? Are you an actual game studio, or are you someone who is claiming to be to make people think you're more professional then you actually are.

Also, you may want to add alot more detail to your thread if you want people to critique your game and actually play it.

Also, if you are a game studio, why are you using other people's scripts, and requesting resources for everything in your game?

Finally, as I have seen throughout the forums, you seem to be needing a alot of help with some relatively complex systems, my reccomendation would be to work within your means, be less ambitious. Most people woudl rather see a simple game done well then a complex game done poorly.

Peace

You need to shave some mp3s or something from your demo, 119mb for a complete game is alot. Go look at the tutorial on encrypting your project. Maybe consider making the sounds .ogg format.

Nobody is going to download a 120mb demo that they know almost nothing about.

Also, one other thing. Your light effect is coming from the top right, which clashes with the RTP's light source which is the top left, you need to flip it.

Peace
