Why are you here?

Hey all,

For better or worse, there is clearly a discernible pattern of people leaving the site-- which brings us to those who remain. Here's my question: Why are you here? I'm asking for candid answers out of curiosity-- be interested to know people's motivations for posting on this site.

Personally, I am here for several reasons. First, it's great to support my project; helps me to get inspired by reading of other people's posts and projects. Second, I have a lot of history here, and really know the personalities. Everyone seems to have their own fascinating backstory, and it's great to have an idea of it so you can take their posts in context. Lastly, I think the EZine is going to be pretty shweet and am looking forward to seeing what happens with it.

What about you? What are your primary reasons for posting here?

I'm here for the same reason I've been here for three bloody years. I made a commitment to moderate the forums, and if I have a responsibility, I'm not going to abandon it over some squabble. (I did leave for like 2 months one time, and it was good, oh so good)

I'm here basically the same reason as Andy; I wanted to hang around the site and just support the Staff and whatnot. I also don't really have a reason to leave. Half of the people who left only left because they wanted to join the bandwagon, not for a good reason.

I'm also here for the same reasons. I was also there on .net, where I met a lot of respectful and influent members who are now gone...:'(

I'm staying because this forum deserves it and because I don't want to see it die right now. It's like a big family to me!
I have no reasons to leave.

I'm here because I use the RMXP program and like to share my projects, graphics, whatever. It also makes me feel fuzzy inside to help others with a program that I clearly superior with.

Also I've been here forever, and this site can't get rid of me no matter how hard it tries.

a little bit of everything posted so far - the people, the responsibility, the trolling, and the fact that i am (just now!!) getting into RMXP. i am genuinely interested in seeing this site progress to something new and COOL and it is a privilege to be a part of it imo.

You think a few tits who thought they'd leave because their good pals Erk and Ccoa left are a big movement to leave? If anything, I'm more likely to stay here now. At least I know we can joke without getting OMG SWEARING THREAD LOCK.

And general abuse, trolling and a few people.

Because the people who are leaving are generally acting like it's the end of the fucking world cause TREG's in charge and that you can only belong to one forum at a time.

What Holloway said, and that this site has a large amount of resources for a person to use when making their game. Plus, the community and atmosphere here is great!

It's one of the few places on the interweb where I have a reputation (albeit mediocre). The site never did anything wrong by me, personally.

I'm here because I use RMXP (I dont finish any projects though) and I enjoy seeing other peoples projects for inspiration. I also haven't jumped on the "bandwagon" mostly because I'm not that involved and whatever happened here, I was unaware of until last night. I like to Download the resources... but I never seem to use em, mostly cause I don't understand the scripting enough. Its a good site for people to share what they are doing with others.

For what has been said and the simple fact that there is absolutely no reason why I need to decide to pick one of the other - cause, you know, I can view and stay active at both sites.

I don't know about a mass exodus from the forums. I see at least 30 people on the forum at any given time which is pretty spectacular all considering. I've been on other forums where there is a fraction of that kind of activity. Like waiting a couple days to see a reply for a greeting post. :s

To get back on topic as to why I'm here. Well originally I registered to get an answer to a simple RGSS question. I felt kind of dumb after seeing the answer. :) But after that I saw some questions I knew the answers to about RGSS and I've been here ever since trying to help out others if I can. Well that's my story albeit short and uninteresting. :D
