Which Title Screen

I have been trying to get a good Screen Title for my game and I have made two so far. please give me feedback and advice on improvments if you think they are needed.

New Title Screen (the one I plan on using)

The new titlescreen is well nice.
Is it just me, or is the text is dark?

I think the text is really too dark on both of them (I understand it's probably for the theme of the game or something, but they're waay dark) I like the second one.

Get rid of the white border on the second one and lighten the text and I think it'll work. (If you're usingf Photoshop, take the layer with the characters on it and use the "Inner Glow" layer effect, set it to black and blend type to "multiply")

Also, being a bit of a font nazi, I'm not sure the font you're using fits your mood. The rounded letters have a kind of "playful" feel, and with a name like "Dark Times" it just doesn't match up if you know what I mean. I'd recommend something similar to "Afterlife", "Deadringer", or "Mastermind" or something along those lines.

The white boarder on the older version really doesn't look great. I feel the top one has more potential and it fits your title. I think you need to change the text colour though. Even if your game is something to do with dark and evilness, it needs to be edited so its more readable. Overall they are quite good jobs. I especially like the two characters in the newer version. I'd say go with the top version but it definatly needs a little touching up. I'm not to keen on the font style either but i guess it's your choice.

I think they're both good, but the top one looks way better, the only thing that holds it back from being perfect, is the writing, try making it a little lighter, and maybe change the font ?

Thanks for for all the advice. Since most of you liked the top one I'll go with it and edit the font and light effect.

PS: yes I'm using Photoshop (8).

the one your using is fine, but I'd move the spreading darkness on the hero (i'm assumin g he's a hero anyway) so that it's coming more form the corner, like the light on the Lich.

I would definatly use the first one that you made. However, I would recommend brightening up the text, it is a little hard on the eyes.

Honestly, I like the old one better, except for that ludicrous looking blue sticker on the bottom corner, and the comic book looking text.
The new one looks too bare to me.
