What's a good topic title for the introductions forum anyway?

Hey guys :P

This is the first time I've signed up to a forum and actually made an introductory post. Hope it's up to scratch...

My name's Dave. I'm a 20 year old student from sunny old England, studying programming. I'm also a keen musician - I play guitar, bass and a bit of keyboard, and love to compose music. I love to meet people, and that's pretty much why I'm here. My favourite game types are RPGs (tales of symphonia, final fantasy series, grandia), action games (resident evil 4, metal gear solid) and 2D platformers (old school sonic, mario, rocket knight adventures etc), but being a game hobbyist I'll pretty much play anything - fighters, racers, puzzlers, rhythm action, you name it. I own a PC (duh!), PS3, PSP, DS and a Wii, and my girlfriend has a 360, so I play on all the major consoles.

I decided about a week ago to make an RPG to kill time this summer, and rather than doing it in C++ like I usually would (I get enough of that at uni!), I thought I'd have a look and see how RPG Maker's coming along. The last version I used was RM2K, back in the Don Miguel days, so I've been pleasantly surprised with RPGXP and RPGVX so far!

Since I've joined this forum I'm also considering doing free music commissions to broaden my compositional boundaries, and to help with inspiration, so look out for that if you're interested.

So that's me. If you want to be friends, give me a holler on msn, my addy is ultima@live.co.uk. Thanks for having me!

You sound like a good member to have around!

If you're looking to spread your musical wings, there's the Music Creation forum for regular music or music development, and Resource Analysis for game-oriented music.

If you know how to do C++, you can probably learn how to use RGSS and RGSS2 pretty easily (if you don't already). There's always RGSS Support if you need help developing code, and Submitted RGSS/RGSS2 Scripts for the stuff you have that you'd like to share.

It's cool that you like lots of game genres. I do, too. The Video Games forum is the place to discuss them.

I don't typically give big "hellos", so maybe my posting here is a good sign that you'll do well here :3

Welcome :)

Thanks everyone :)

I probably won't be posting much over the next few days - I usually like to lurk for a week or so when I join a new forum to get a feel for the place, but it seems pretty cool here. I can see there's a lot of talented people about, and I think I'll have a lot of fun.

Wow man, you kind of sound like an English older version of myself. I also happen to play guitar, bass and piano. :3

You sound like a cool member to have around. Welcome!
