Enough lol...

An invisible cape or an invulnerability potion that longs for 10 minutes maybe... or turns off when you came out of the map... something like it shall do.

Why would the MC be IN the garden in the first place, if it's certain death? Is xe he(I'll assume the main character is a male. Since statistically that's what you've got, and perhaps a Gary Stu at that) a total idiot? If so, what the hell is he doing trying to save the world?

I'd flesh out the story a little more first, and then work out WHY he's in there in the first place.

So... your trying to figure out something for the (possibly mentally challenged) main character to find so that he can get out of a guard infested area?

couple of ideas:

-Invisibility cloak/boots/lingerie/whatever
-disguise
-something distracting
-something that will make him move lightning fast to go past all of them
-somthing that would allow him to fly above or dig under the guards, and out of the infested area.

hope that helps!  :thumb:

Dried up fountain in the center with a weak foundation. Break through the foundation. Leads to an old waterworks type area. When the player enters evoke a timer that represents the guards catching him.

Make the tunnels very convoluted so the player may become confused (aided by the timer making him frantic).

While "not everything MUST come from a reason", it usually is a good idea to make sure that the story makes sense. if your plot involves the main character doing things that do not make sense, just so you can progress the story, your game is going to turn out badly, storywise at least. Having a character that does things that aren't smart is OK, as long as the rest of him works that way as well. You need consistency in your main character's actions, and a theme for all of those actions.

*invisible cloak
*grapple hook
*some usless item that makes him relize he can just hide in the bushes.
*something that teleports him out
*insanely strong weapon that vanishes after he uses it
*its empty, so if ur hero's small he just hides in it.
*its empty but there's a secret passage under it
ok ill stop before i start to annoy u

A potion bomb, 10 of them or something.
He has to drop them near the guards to knock them out so he can make it out of the garden, however the effects dont last forever and you have a limitted supply (10).

I would use a step-based variable to determine how many steps the player has taken after dropping the potion and after 20 steps the guards wake up with a switch, the potion can be determined by having the player press a button within an X and Y range of the guard event, so you can drop one anywhere within an area, but when you step into the area the guard has a switch turn on and they start rushing towards you and when they touch you there is a hard battle or you just start again.

I'm gonna use this idea now :D

I think the invisibility cloak is the best idea so far.  Hiding in the bushes also sounds like a good idea.  Maybe you can have something like a maze where you have to avoid guards.

,,Maybe you can have something like a maze where you have to avoid guards."

,,Oh my! I'm surrounded with enemy soldiers! I have to get outta this place!"
                            *Pac-man mode on*

Sounds fun  :thumb:

If you will really do that, then make MUCH minigames like that too.
Because if you put that pac-man thing in (I was a bit sarcastic in my last post..) but the rest of the game is normal, then that minigame will look stupid. Much weirdo minigames or no minigames like that, remember this

This is BRILLIANT.

Set the chest so it's an event, after opening the player realizes he can hide in it and has the option to take it with him. If "yes" the event is set to follow him. If he's about to cross paths with a guard, he can turn around and activate the chest with the action button to hide in it (probably have chest move through the hero to his square and change the hero graphic to match the chest, or something). If it's not directly in the guard's way he'll just walk on past it. If it is in the guards way, set it so they go "How'd this get here?" and they take it back to the beginning.
