What plugins should I get.

I'm using FL studio, but I'm not satisfied with the sounds I have, the standard is pretty crappy. So now I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions to what vsti plugins I should get. I already have ezdrummer.

Art Vista Grand Piano - Very natural sounding piano
Colossus - 30gb full of sounds
Edirol Orchestral - Great orchestra VSTI
Hypersonic 2 - A good plugin, contains different sounds

what you might want to check out. East west is bundling all of their old apps, Symophonic CHoirs, COlossus, RA, STormdrum, Borsendorfer 290, and Orchestra Gold XP all for like $900. Thats a steal.

Yeah, but it's still waaay too expensive for me. And I don't think my computer would be able to handle them either.

considering they're all like $500-$1000 a pop that's a damn good deal

also colossus is chock full of duplicate samples and generally useless padding (fuck eastwest)

what kindof music you make definitely influences that kinds of VSTis you would find most useful but you should hunt for Absynth and/or FM8.

That's the problem. I make lots of different music. But I think I know what I'm gonna get.

4front piano is really small, really free, and sounds pretty damn good, they have a piano and an epiano plugin, also plugsound free edition is like 16 megs, has some good piano, rhodes, some acoustic guitars, metal xylophone sounding thng, music box etc.

if you want some good 8 bit stuff if you do Nintendo mixes and stuff like i do, musts are magical8bit, peach, toad, triforce

Im looking for some nice free orchesta VSTs. Ones with drums, wind instruments, strings and voice. If i can find these as seperate VSTs it's still good :D (Did i mention free? >_< Im a student so i dont get much money and have nearly none left after buying petrol for my bike, insurance and internet) >_<

When i make music i make it very FF6 sounding or RMXP RTP Sounding :P

Haha, yea thats true about colossus. It uses a lot of samples for different patches. And the GM section is just mainly all of the other sections packed into one, which was pointless of them to do. That kinda pissed me off at first when i installed mine. However, i was able to make some sick patches with some of the instruments and tweaking the $%(* out of them.

But yeah, you should be able to find some good free plugins at KVR Audio.

plugins?

u-he zebra is fantastic for a more modular sound. very nice environment.
most of the stuff from arturia is great, their emulations of vintage moog synthesizers is a must have.
waves bundle. this is a must have in FL studio as the default tools they give you are absolutely nonsense. waves offers amazing compressors/reverbs/delays.

all in all, these require a bit of knowledge in the synthesis area of things.

zebra's rad

also everyone should get ABVST and SOPHIA from audiobulb they are cool as hell

also all you 2A03 fags have like everything under the sun to pick from but the ym2612 crowd (read: the superior crowd) should check out Nostaljia.

don't get me wrong - eastwest's stuff is really really good. it's just PADDED so much it's really annoying. it's pretty good copy protection though.

No, as far as I know finale doesn't use VST plugins.

Parametric EQ is a good free EQ VST, which can help improve the sound and tweak the sound of other things.

finale uses a customized version of kontakt with garritan personal orchestra if i'm not mistaken, but i don't think it uses any other VSTis. i think it's more just NOTATION SOFTWARE, not really a VST host.

Hmm, my 2008 version has plguin for VSTs. I guess the added it in 2008. *shrugs*

Hmm thats actually great news. Now I don't have to constantly export to Fruity loops and Cubase to use my VSTi's on my compositions!

Just need to buy finale 2008 now, still stuck in the dark ages with '06

I did this too when I had 06, so I just saved up and bought 08. Its actually alot better than the past editions imo, but some of the midi playback is still absolute shit. At least its better than Print Music (which has like, 20 midi sounds? lawl)

Now just have to figure out how to configure it and im smooth sailing.
