since this is now (temporarily) a beef jerky forum, let's get some opinions!!!

what is the best brand of beef jerky you have ever eaten? or any good experiences with a particular brand?? imo jack link's beef jerky is the best but it's not exactly the healthiest.

also what is the best flavour of beef jerky? for me it's always the spicy kind!!

i don't know what brand it is but i had this really good jerky in a yellow pouch with a stereotypical indian on it once. shit was mad tasty.

teriyaki style or good old-fashioned regular jerky are my favourites. I'm very easygoing about jerky, though -- the only kind I don't like is peppered jerky.

one time I had this jerky that (hey coincidence) had a stereotypical indian on the front (was it called Big Chief or am I just picking the name that makes logical sense? (I don't think it was teloch's brand by the way)) and it was pretty bad. it wasn't actual jerky (i.e. dried hunks of meat) but some kind of meat puree shaped into jerky shapes and prepared like a hot rod or something. it was tasty enough but it didn't have tat tough stringy texture that I really like about jerky.

i remember when i was a kid they sold thius jerky on the cashier's desk at the Red & White Market, it came in a clear plastic cannister with no label except a permanent marlker that said "JERKY .99". It wasn't strips, it was like one GIGANTIC slab of jerky, it looked like someone skinned the cow's ass and dried it, and then ground in pepper and teriyaki flavors (and sometimes HICKORY MMMMMMMM) and that was the most FANTASITIC jerky i have ever had in my life. i actually think the R&W butcher was the one who made it, I don't think it was commercial. Because that butcher made the best cuts of meat in the city, easily. I've never found a slice of jerky or a slice of porterhouse/sirloin/T-Bone/etc betteer than at that little market in oceanside. i would actually ride my bike 5 miles to get there just for that jerky. they stopped selling it when i was like 16/17, but by then i'd moved away anyway

otherwise, nowadays, i sort of like jack links too, and sometimes pemmican (thats the kind with the indian on the front). my favorite is hickory smoked but i also like any fucking flavor they have except BBQ.

I like the cheap dollar store kind. Why pay $6 for jerky when I can get it for $1?

Also, while its not beef, deer jerky is fucking awesome.

Nah. I liked it even before I was broke. The other stuff is good but for the price, dollar store is my favorite.

I love Pemmican (teriyaki (sp?)) the most, but I can never fucking find it anywhere, anymore. It makes me oh so a sad.
