What games should be remade/sequeled?

Tired of remakes? Then this thread isn't for you, unless you feel like saying no games should be remade.

What games would you want remade, and with what additions? Other than "better graphics" because now-a-days that's a pretty simple given. Very few non-nostalgia collections are remade now with out graphical upgrades.

I'd want a remake of the first game to ever have a mature rating/parental advisory (and if you thought mortal kombat kick yourself). Splatterhouse needs to be brought back to life in today's markets. I don't really care if it's a straight up remake, or a "sequel" given the same name, or whatever. As long as it's not the nes version, I'll be fine.

Kid Icarus could be great nowadays. Along side abadox (abbadox?) with all it's insane difficulty.

Though I personally don't think it's time yet to remake the ps1 era games, when it is time I'd throw Suikoden 1 n' 2 in there easily.

As for sequels, no game really strikes me as needing one. Even the ones that ended so badly they begged for sequel attention.

What would you guys throw in?

Holy crap I forgot about that damn game...

Oh yeah, I forgot what I'd add to my games I listed...
Abbadox: the feature to continue/live/1ups
Suikoden1/2: an extra rune or two just to throw out something "new"
kid icarus: whole new world, just same basic idea behind modernized and newer mechanics
splatter house: 3d. no, I'm not talking new 3d graphics (as I said would be pointless to bring up in my first post) but rather a 3d environment, though I'll always love the 2d version more - i just know i would.

...Wouldn't you rather see a Warcraft 4?

If FF7 was remade it would be hard to do because the major plot twist of a 'certain character's' death is now common knowledge. It would be very hard for Square Enix not to tread on the toes of diehard fanboys. This being so, it would be even harder to change to much without a backlash. And if they don't change anything what's the point? All you end up with is better graphics. This isn't a bad thing and if it was re-made and I had the console I would buy it, but in the end it is the same thing.

Ugh am I going off topic? I can't really think of any games that should be re-made or desperate need sequals (that aren't getting them). I would say Banjo Kazooie but I think a new one is being made for the X-Box. I know! Let's see a new Donkey Kong that isn't as lame as King of Swing or Jungle Beat (whatever it's called). Keep in mind I describe them as lame because I want to see somehting more faithfull to the classic DK Country series.

Hey Sixty, woner where you got the idea for thsi topic :P

I'm not sure Anglachel, I'm not sure. Must be one of those serendipity sort of deals huh? Just pure dumb luck that I would happen to stumble upon myself making the topic ;)

I don't think FF7 can be remade yet.
Firstly, it's still got that "fresh fanboy" base.
Odd though how I feel that FF7 is too new still to be remade, but I'm all for a suikoden remodel. Then again I freely admit by bias towards or against either. FF7 made me want stop playing RPGs, and Suikoden pulled me back in.
Then again I still think FF6 - my 2nd favorite FF - is still too "fresh fanboy" for a remake... though with that, it's more of the "don't touch the classics" you get with us old timers. Like how my father and I would talk and he'd go on about how you couldn't remake Casablanca or cover Hendrix...

Seriously, what could you add to FF7 that would make it worth a 2nd go around on the creative end?
You can't add new characters. You simply can't. Actually, you can add some NPC's - but die hard fans would commit suicide... I take it back! MAKE MORE CHARACTERS!!!

You can only screw with the materia system. That's it. Why bother? Better to wait until there's something more. Sure you can throw in a few hidden dungeons, but that's hardly worth it. Sure, you can say "was it worth it for FF dawn of souls?" and I'd say "Absolutely. FF1 and 2 are decades old. It's completely different. I, and most of the non-Japanese market have never played a true FF2. Dungeons were just a bonus."

So, what would be the real point?

To me the whole point of remaking old games is twain. You want to introduce a new audience, and somehow captivate the old. You want to suck in the new audience into something unfamiliar (let's face it, new styled RPG's are a lot more out-of-genre friendly) without turning your backs on the people who bought the originals. FF7 is a "modern classic", I'll give ya that and won't dispute it (even though I actually want to, I can't). But there's nothing to do with it yet. It's like remaking Titanic. Both were made in 1997 - but come on, sure it's been 10 years but have we moved away from either that much?

A faithful DK would be nice.
Then again, my version of faithful DK died with the first sequel in the series... so...

Metroid Prime Hunters...it seriously needs a remake, I was hoping for a great single player experience with that game. I mean...it was ok, but the story was blah to me. The bosses were too repetitive, the other Hunters' AI needs working on (they just jump around like maniacs and shoot you), and they could have done better with some of the enemies. Oh, and get Retro to work on it this time...but like that's ever going to happen. (they said Corruption was going to be their last Metroid game)

we need lufia games like we need another season of according to jim. I think they should remake contra, not the retard one from the ps2, that was awful.

Parasite Eve and Final Fantasy 6 should be remade <.<

Agreed. I would love to see a PE/PE2 remake or another PE sequel. That story was just so fascinating, and I really wish I could buy another copy or 2 of the game to share with friends (without paying the 300$ people want for it on e-bay).

An old Amiga game called 'Frontier: Elite II'. As basic as it was, the game was enourmous. Add some updated graphics and physics. A little online multiplayer. It'd be great.
Sensible World of Soccer.. I know its coming to XBLA but I can't wait >< Best Footy game ever.

Console-wise. I'd like to see Desert/Jungle/Urban Strike make a comback. Possibly in a more 3D GTA-like enviroment.

Every played X3? It's pretty much Elite: Next Generation except you sadly can't land on planets.

It's one of my favorite RPG/Sims but there isn't a large fanbase because it uses every friggin key on the keyboard and it's confusing as hell if you have a short attention span.
