What do you fear?

What are you scared of in life? Talk about anything: Phobia, simple fears, complex fears, funny and serious fears.
Put why you are scared of it also. Try to put in pictures too!

Example:
I'm scared of:  MILLIPEDES and CENTIPEDES! Just thinking of them makes me look over my shoulder.
Why: They look creepy. They have way too many legs than they need. Some can even kill people! They move extremely fast, too! AND THEY'RE HUGE!

I'm also scared of ...D-daddy long legs...*looks around*
Why: Again, legs...They are LONG as hell! When they walk, it looks like they are floating!

Millipedes!
Centipedes!

I remember the old thread like this, but screw it it's fine to remake.

I'm scared of the "Stupid Things" such as equinophobia (hippophobia), a fear of horses.  However it's not that I won't go near them, it's really not a true phobia it's a minor fear.  Almost more like just an uneasy feeling.  I used to be very scared of them but when I visited relatives as a kid years ago I was forced to be around them and sort of kinda almost got over it.
Why?  They big.  No really that's all I can think of.  I just didn't like them and they scared me very much.  I feared their big teeth too.

I do have Leporiphobia though.
It's a fear of rabbits, if anyone wants to know.
Why?  WATER SHIP DOWN
Before I was like 5 I had already read the book and seen the movie (probably a few too many times), and it made me deathly afraid of rabbits.  I had a job at a pet store, I could deal with everything, I love reptiles and mice and kept many as pets over the years (mice most recently, especially the one's I've caught myself), but rabbtis was one thing I couldn't deal with.
Oddly like animals such as hamsters or other fluff balls didn't do anything.  Just rabbits.
I've been able to pet a rabbit last time I saw one though, but it was extremely quick.

Like I said: stupid things.

I'm terrified of being constricted in any way, that's about it.

I also hate driving up steep hills, especially when they have sharp turns.

spiders, tight spaces, crowds, going out to eat or going clothes shopping alone (ghosts of my mostly-conquered agoraphobia).

Though my worst fear of all is being dissected or autopsied after I'm dead. That makes no sense, since I'll be dead, but lots of people have irrational fears. Anyway it's in my will that I'll be cremated wearing the clothes I die in. I'm not afraid of death, I'm actually afraid of people defiling my body when I'm not able to get up and slap them. Like, ridiculously afraid of it. I have frequent nightmares about it. I don't care if I'm murdered and the murder weapon is buried in my chest and they need to dig it out. NOPE! I'd rather let the asshole go free than be autopsied.

The weirdest part is that I've had major surgery before and I'm not really scared of surgery. I guess 'cause I'm giving consent for them to splay me open?

I'm fucking weird :)

:P

Pain, but perhaps that is universal.

I am afraid of insects, especially bees and wasps or other big ones. I don't really mind spiders compared to flies, bees, wasps, or any of the fast, flying insects because I can at least kill the spider rather easily. Flies are to fast, and I don't want to attempt to kill a wasp or bee in fear of retaliation (Even though I've never gotten stung before)

I don't know if you would call it a phobia though. I'm not afraid of your sig, Venetia.

Basically, it's centipede because I was once bitten by it. And it really hurts, plus the duration of pain lasts for about 7 hours.

I'll slay every species of it when I see any..

I'm afraid of the silly stuff. That is, I'm afraid of ghosts not in the traditional things start flying around and there are noises sense, but just those big awkward sheet-ghosts who float around and make a lot of noise. A big cat's head with glowing eyes and a big smile tailing me through a dark house. That kind of thing.

Oh, and opening a door, turning on a TV, etc., and finding nothing but eyes in darkness. Isn't that strange?

That aside, and I find this a little more reasonable, I fear malevolent fog. That is, I fear a malicious force that you can identify but can't stop. Basically, a face of evil you can't sink a punch into. Hell, the prospect of unstoppable forces in general scares the shit out of me, for good or bad. I'm never afraid of people, even if those people could kill me, simply because I know that they're as human as I am and subject to the same weaknesses. Things that aren't, though... Ugh.

As a child, I feared exponential growth. I would have these horrible nightmares where something like a green ball would be rolling along and I'd be talking to someone and soon I'd be unable to stop shouting louder and louder until I woke up, scared as hell. I guess you could chalk that up to a fear of losing control over myself, as well.

Lesse, other stuff? Like, real stuff that isn't just some nightmare crap?

The prospect of being trapped inside my own head is the scariest fucking thought I've ever had. Being able to think but not to act is the worst fate I can possibly think of. Worse than death? You bet. For one thing, there's the boredom. You have to occupy yourself somehow or you'll go mad, and I never find my own thoughts very entertaining. Besides, if I decided on introspection and stumbled upon one of life's great truths or achieved enlightenment or whatever, I wouldn't be able to do anything with the knowledge. If you figure something out or become a Buddha or something, it's worth absolutely bupkis if you don't go out and share.

's all I can think of for now but I'm probably scared of a lot more shit than that. I'll mull it over.

Spiders. I fucking hatehatehatehatehatehatehatehatehatehatehatehatehate spiders. They so scary and i dun' like 'em ;-;

oh and change. change scares me like the dickens. :'(

but just those big awkward sheet-ghosts who float around and make a lot of noise.

this made me lol

My fears...

Biggest one I can think of is bugs.  Not just any bug though; the fast bugs.  Any bug that can either run or fly very, very fast and may be leathal I fear.  Not fast flies though, things like fast bees and spiders.  I also have a large fear of blood-suckers: leaches, mosquitos, and DADDY LONG LEGS (which is the WORST).

Second biggest one, maybe bigger then the other, is DEATH.  I fear death.  I try to do things to not die.  I fear it because I fear what the next life will be.  Being in heaven or hell...  Both worlds are very scarey.  If I could, I'd be immortal and just live, live, live... (Because of this I have fears climbing too high up a ladder, getting hit by lightning in a storm, drive-bys, crazy people killing me for no reason, etc.)

Three years ago I gained a fear of the ocean, more inparticular beaches.  One day, after a hangover, I saw a little boy screaming for help in the beach (Not really what happened but it's the gist of it).  I was able to hold him over the water for like 2 minutes, until a surfer came and helped us out, but I almost drowned, and now I fear going out too far.  It was 2 minutes of horror.  Waves kept coming and hitting me in the face as I held the boy over the water.  There was a really strong underwater current which kept pulling us out to sea.  The situation was horrible.  Longest two minutes of my life.  So...  Screw the beach.  I'd still go, but not too far in the water. (Note: this was in Brazil, and the waves there are at Barra da Tijuca are killer.)

My most irrational fear would be tornadoes.  When I was a kid, I watched as a small, dying tornado fly right past me, and I was like 10 feet away.  It's kind of a miracle why I wasn't pulled in.  This was during Hurricane Andrew in Florida, I think.  Anyways, I thought it was cool, and many years later I start having dreams about tornadoes appearing outside of wherever I live and killing me. o,o

I've never understood fear of death, actually -- not because I don't like living (because I like living a lot,) but I've never been that attached to the idea of living, and the way I see it, a few things can happen when I die:

A: There's no afterlife. Nothing happens. I fade out. I don't have to worry about this, though, because I won't have the capacity to care since I will no longer exist.
B: There's an afterlife and I go to Hell. Fire, brimstone, torture, and all that jazz. Satan waxes self-righteous. Etc. etc. I don't have to worry about this, though, because I'd deserve it anyway and I never thought of Hell as a permanent thing -- would a being of infinite mercy really send you to endure the most horrible tortures for all of eternity just because you did some bad shit during your hundred years kicking around the mortal coil? As soon as you understand why you're there and are genuinely rehabilitated, you're out, is my thinking -- mainly because I see life as a great big learning experience, and what use is what you learn if it doesn't make any difference after you're dead?
C: There's an afterlife and I go to Heaven. Bliss. Angels. Gardens with rivers flowing beneath. Etc. Nothing to worry about, since it's so happy and stuff.
D: There is the wheel of Samsara and I am reincarnated. Nothing to worry about except playing out another life and learning what I'm supposed to in order for a more fortunate reincarnation next time or...
E: There is the wheel of Samsara and I attain enlightenment and escape it. Nothing to worry about, since I am beyond human suffering. I'd probably come back as a bodhisattva by this point, and that might carry some worries in and of itself, but I'd be helping other people out of their own worries so it'd be worth it.

Then again, the act of dying is a fairly scary thought, as is considering how your passing would affect the people you care for. Those I can understand.

I probaly fear death like I do because I don't know what will happen to me after.  I don't wanna sleep forever, and just disappear.  The uncertainty may be a major factor.

Yeah, the most common fear right now is of bugs.

I once wasn't scared of death. I was almost hit by thunder. It was right in front of my face!

It was during a hiking trip on the Appalachian mountains. Now, Many months later, the fear has returned to me.

Wow, Venetia! Thanks for your compliment in your signature!

I can't think of anything I'm ESPECIALLY afraid of.  I mean if somebody has a gun and is like "I'm gonna shoot you" then yeah I would probably fear the pain but most people do, but I don't have any irrational or unique fears or anything.
