What are you writing?

God this board feels dead
:\

Anyways, post what you're writing/give a description of what you are working on literaturally right now. Can be stories, ideas, essays, etc. Sorta the counterpart to all those other "what are you doing" threads.

just wrote a hawthorne and lovecraft inspired short freeverse story called "Telazm and Goode King Joseph." Might make a universe outta this.

i'd be lying if i said i was in the middle of actually typing the words of a story, but for the past couple of months (especially this summer) i've been doing a lot of brainstorming and conceptualizing for a big writing project. i've been reading all sorts of fiction writing advice and how-to's, jotting down dozens of pages of notes, developing characters, and locations, etc. while it's not writing in the strictest sense, i think it's close enough :shades:

This. Though I am basing a lot of my work off of my friends. Mine is currently called World 8 (was Izengrad in Flames)

I'm actually writing (except I obviously took a minute to check up on forums) in my novel. I'm editing it right now for the second time, and its tedious, but I love the growth its been through. :D

I haven't written in a while because I haven't felt like it, but when I do, I'm working on my long standing Harry Potter fanfic, the Obsidian Phoenix, as well as the story for my game, the Fifth Dragon, and a couple book concepts I call Cassandra and Heartwood. Heartwood is the only one of my book ideas that is close to being actually written.

Oh, I also have an idea for a short story about the suicide of a vampire named Isiah that was inspired by the second season of TrueBlood/the Sookie Stackhouse books.

after reading the responses to a white horse, I just doodled this shit down in five minutes.

You wake up, and sort of wonder what is going on.

Your wife is named Hilda. Secretly, you find the name somewhat strange, old, a bit funny perhaps. It sounds like such a royal and classy, and from that, like an old name. It feels like modern day people shouldn't be named as such. Perhaps. But then again, it doesn't matter, it just doesn't really matter, because it fits so well.
That's the other thing that you try to keep as a secret to yourself. Your wife's classy and royal name does indeed fit her. It fits her so well. You may admit to yourself that she's not exactly the cutest thing in the world. You may admit to yourself that she's a bit cold, a bit distanced, and her name, the feeling of her name, is perfect for her. She's not the smartest, your wife isn't the greatest.
But, however there's that "but" there that lurks in your heard and holds you to her, she is worth it. She doesn't smile that much, not anymore, not like she used to, but sometimes, yeah, she does smile, and as she hold your hands and stare into your eyes, and as you stare into hers, you sort of feel that it didn't matter, that it doesn't matter. You don't need a cute wife. You don't need a perky wife, you don't need a smart wife, you don't need the greatest and sexiest wife of all. Admit it, when she smiles, when the clouds part, it's all worth it. You're happy. That's what love was. There wasn't need for any of that. Yeah, that's it, you're happy, and you stare back, kissing her, holding her, and making love to her.
It was all worth it. You go to sleep with her in your arms, both of you sigh a sigh, a sigh of content, of love, of wanting to hold the other as sleep entices and to be there for the other when you wake up.

Strange thing was, she wasn't there when you woke up, and you stare into a beautiful face that you didn't recognize and was clearly not hers. Clearly not Hilda's.

"Heya, love," she remarks, and holds you close.

I found that I develop my characters and history better through narrative and documents that would take an actual position in the game's world.

In one case, I'm writing out my character in the form of a medical file (He's a mentally unstable patient, so this is quite a defining part of his story.)

Lately I've been revisiting an old story idea for a visual novel, and another story idea for a Suikoden-esque RPG. Both of which are still in the early stages of development, but progress is being made... slowly but surely. :)

I always tend to flip-flop between various works, but that's about it right now. That and the various short stories I tend to do every couple of days (which I haven't done one in awhile, whoops!)

And, well, I was working on a Suikoden III fanfiction, but ... yeah, I think that spark died. I'm not sure if I'll revisit it or not. Maybe in a few days I'll dust it off and start anew.

messing with poetry. god i suck when i try to force out poetry.

Well at least you can write it :P I couldn't write poetry if my life depended on it. Comes out too... blah.

Though I've got to say, I absolutely love Edgar Allan Poe's work. He was crazy talented and very eloquent (in his own morose kind of way). Other than that I don't read or write any poetry.

homework
actually lots of homework
FOR ONCE
:dead:

i think my forced emo song lyric writing is better than my forced poetry writing, too bad it's "inspired" by other works and basically is just a new set of lyrics to a remixed version of the songs im listening to

So I'm writing a script for a comic
It is ridiculously hard.
Did a couple of "web-comic"-y scripts before, which was particularly easy because all it was was making a joke and fitting in development and plot into 4 panels. Now, I gotta detail lots of things out, while making sure i'm not adding to much or too little onto a page while at the same time keeping a sense of balance and flow that doesn't seem awkward.
It doesn't help I have a very very vague idea of what to do for an intro, barely anything at all.

I am writing a short story that takes place 4 years before my game. *shifty eyes*

It chronicles some of Aelina's past when she was 16 years old and became a singer for the first time. I'm practicing my "skills" on descriptions and dialogue. ^^
