Most are professional, its just what you make of it.

FL isnt for starters at all, its just pretty easy to use. If you mean professional as in difficult, then try Finale or Sibelius. The interface is a tad more difficult if you cant read music that well.

There are two ways to look at it. Professional could mean "professional industry standard" which is a quantifiable and objective classification. Something that is known to be widely used in the industry could be called professional.

On the other hand it could mean anything which could yield professional quality results, which is a far wider spectrum of choices.

FL Studio doesn't seem to be widely used in the industry although I know of a few artists who do use it, and it can also yield professional results. You should stick to the software, as there's nothing "starter" about it save for the fact that it is one of the most widely known and cheapest DAW stations out there.

If its for composing music to be performed then FL is not the "professional" in that sense.

But for making electronic music or such then FL is great.

For making sheet music to be performed?

I am not a master at the program so maybe there is a function I don't know about.

All I know is if I was to compose music in it I would not have a clue how to get it into sheet music [or even tablature] to be read by performers. To me it just does not seem like a great program for the composing side of things, as in sheet music composing.

Sorry about that, but I think its an important point on DAW's in general if you intend to write music on them.

I would love if there was a plugin to make music wrote in FL into Sheet music.

To answer the question of the Topic:

Cubase, if you are looking for something similiar to FL
Finale or Sibelius, if you are looking for something to produce sheet music and the sort.

In any case, you can just export your MIDI from FL and import it into a program that will display notation. I don't use FL, but rather Cubase. Has a workflow that is much more useful to me.

Well FL is good if you are just wanting to give that MIDI a better sound by using VST or whatever, but for the actual composing of the music, Finale is good.

FL is more than suitable for composition. It allows for input from external MIDI controllers, not to mention that the MIDI cure within the piano roll is representative of notation, so you can do whatever you'd do in Finale, with FL.

I don't even like FL and I'm defending it, fuck.

"so you can do whatever you'd do in Finale, with FL. "

But wait... wasn't it just mentioned that you can't create sheet music with it?  If its to be performed... that's generally needed.

Personally, I use Finale.  I've never tried Siblieus, but, its supposedly a great program too.

Obviously I'm talking from a compositional point of view, which you could transpose notation to MIDI value. You don't need Finale to convert MIDI to sheet notation either, so there's not much of a point of getting it if all you want is having the music to read.

Well the sheet music will be horrendous, you need to change all clefts etc etc, but I get what your saying and if its sheet music your after then yeah it is possible in FL with an external program.

I quite like FL.

Try ACID Pro, Sound Forge, Reason, or Cubase. One of em must be the one you are looking for.

But lemme tell you this.
It's not the software, great music lies upon a great musician.

Quoted for Truth.

I use two programs. I make the song in Anvil Studio as a MIDI, then I doll it up in Fruity Loops.

Humm, there is a lot of "pro" music programs, Protools, Reason, Abbleton live, cubase, samplitude...Fl is the most known, that's all but they are a lot of better program.
