Welcom to the Weekly Music Workshop. (WMW for short)
In this thread all you who would like to make music are at the right place!

Every week there's a theme. This theme will be pre-selected some time before the week starts,
by everyone who wants to participate. You can propose themes, vote on themes, or just go with
the ones others proposed. Based on that theme, you make a song. The theme will sometimes be
a guide in whatever instruments you can use, or what kind of atmosphere you have to capture.
Other people will give feedback on your song, so everyone can improve their composing.

- You can only post songs relevant to the theme
- Feedback has to be constructive

And of course all forum rules apply

theme: harsh noise

you can only use sounds recorded from your kitchen or bathroom sink. distortion and effects and shit is allowed but no generated white, brown, or pink noise.

k well heres what i got, granted this is my first time ever making noise (it was actually fun to mess around with it) i think it turned out ok: http://bb.xieke.com/files/moognoise1.YVR.YVR.mp3

i used a running faucet, the microwave cooking noise, a toaster pop, a trash can lid slam, and a broom sweep

the end was supposed to fade out more but my sound editor fucked it up when i was importing it to wav.

blah blah blah its not music but anyways if you could come up with a different theme that doesn't sound so horrendous i'd be happy to try (even though my composing/performing skills suck...), maybe it'd break the composers block that is permanently on my brain.

If you don't want to I'm sure i could come up with a theme.

theme: christmas tunez

if midi, you are restricted to banjo, reed organ, kalimba, tubular bells, and a drumkit. if mp3, it must be either trancey or hiphoppy, be at least two minutes long, and must sample the CNN news coverage of the election at least three times (check youtube or something). the song's title, either midi or mp3, must also incorporate the word "doof" somehow - "rudoof the doof-nosed reindoof", "silver doofs", "jinglebell doof", etc.

this is less interesting because i forgot about this and i've been listening to di.fm too much lately but OH WELL GET TO WORK.

I extremely disagree with this. Noise is a style of music wheather you believe it or not, and perhaps its that thinking that keeps you back from producing such.

yeah i was going to refute that but people are dumb and no one will UNDERSTAND IT anyway. i mean i hate using YOU JUST DONT GET IT because that's really gay but noise really is entirely about either GETTING IT or not getting it. most people don't!
