[VX] My Party is back to Level 1 ?

I have a quick, probably stupid question. I switched my party out and used side characters for a mission, when I brought back my main party they had returned to level 1. Would a script cause this or does this just happen ?

When adding someone to the party, uncheck the box that says 'initialize'.
