Viewing an exe file's contents?

Is there a way of unpackaging  an exe file that's been released for play so that you can view the contents of the game in RMXP?  The game I'm speaking of is "The Last Scenario," which is clearly an RPG Maker game, but I want to look at some of the things the author did.  I have no interest in stealing any of his custom graphics, etc, but I want to know how he set up a few specific scripts.
Thanks,
-Ish

It has been done but isn't very nice or legal to do. There is a user around the forums, I won't point you to their direction as even I don't approve of people hacking into and looking through my game's files, the program is called pandora's box.

I can't find a way to contact the creator of "The Last Scenario."  However, I apologize, I didn't realize it was looked down upon, and will cease my inquiry on the subject.

I think it's looked down upon because by doing so, you are able to steal their ideas, scripts, and everything else that they've worked on for so long to bring you a game, (Which is usually free for RMXP.)

If you have a question on how they did something, or what scripts they used, it's usually better to pm them (If the creators are available)  or ask in a request forum for something similar to their system.  Usually people have very similar scripts to others, or know exactly which script they used.  The same goes for events, tilesets, charsets, etc.

Good luck.
