A note to those of previous knowledge on this project...

"Tim/Flamerfox, finally, you posted it! But where the hell is my demo?" I know. It's not here yet. It will be here soon, and I'll leave it at that. Yes, I know I've gone through countless delays, yes, I know it should've been here a long time ago. So, now that something is here, quit yer bickering. Besides, this was already posted twice, and now a third time, thank you forum hackers.

The Game Idea

Venaliter Rising is not really your typical fantasy RPG with swords and dragons and an angsty hero with an odd haircut. Infact, its anything but. It takes place in a unique world, that blends in elements of fantasy, western, science fiction and steampunk. Although it has a more or less serious storyline, theres plenty of comedic relief in many cutscenes, along with a wide variety of absurd extras to unlock.


The World

Towering skyscrapers, entire cities lit up by neon and spotlights, unseen airship highways throughout the sky, and a world power running the ideal world. All of these, shining examples of Wendir...

...As it were but a decade ago. In this age, they are but remnants of a world that seems too good to be true. Through the anarchy and ruins of this arid and unforgiving world, two wandering gunmen drift from town to town in search of an old myth, one that they themselves have little more than contempt for.

Upon entering the backwater town of Midrose, the two drifters cross paths with but one of the world's last great wizards, and soon learn that the myth they were chasing may not be as cynical as they originally thought.​

Characters

Roger Thompson
"Whatever's eating at him must be suffering horribly."

Roger was merely 14 when the foreign marauders had laid waste to Glaston, the Old Capital. Though living nowhere near Glaston, the attack had affected him as it had the entire Wendir population. What was once a simple life of hunting and fishing the local woods and rivers had become a life of constant running; a last ditch effort to escape the chaos unravelling at the Capital.

Roger is a man of few words, brutally honest when necesarry and can always be counted on to keep a straight face in the roughest moments. Knowing eachother for about 6 years now, Roger and Stan have strayed far from the lands they knew, though on some days they seem as close to thier homes as ever.

Roger is a skilled fighter, and extremely experienced with all assorments of Handguns and Polearms, as they were both expected disciplines in his home town.


Stan Delgado
"What a character that guy is! Possesing a mind not merely twisted- But actually sprained!"

Stan had always managed to be the joker at times of distress, the one who instinctively felt the need to cheer up those who were down or panicked. Stan was, not too long ago, in the very same predicament as Roger, being forced to flee the life he knew for one of constant running.

Being from a different home city, Stan had rode along the monorail for many months before reaching the end of the line, and meeting Roger through one of the crossroads of the Dunepeak Mountains.

Stan is known as a stealthy fighter, being proficient with rifles and one-handed swords.


Features

Fast paced, strategic battles: Don't worry about boring battles where you're staring at your watch half the time and commanding your healer the other. With some scripted Quick Commands, (Block, Dodge, Parry and Counter, all accesed from the W,A,S,D keys) and speedy enemies that attack in real time, be sure to keep your fngers at the ready. Your tactics in battle could be the difference between life and death.

Minigames Galore!: All throughout the big city and the rest of the world you'll find countless things to do. From shooting ranges and tavern games to aerial dog fights and race gambling, you'll never run out of things to do and unlock.

Entertaining Cutscenes: Throughout the whole game you only see what your character sees. You dont need to sit through hours of political nonsense from a king or some government executive, and the action scenes will keep you on the edge of your seat. Character sprites for actions are plentiful, and to prevent getting over pretentious theres quite a bit of comedic relief where needed.

A Unique, Out of the ordinary experience: As said before, VR is not your typical D&D inspired RPG. It takes itself seriously, but not to a point where its too pretentious. The world is full of interesting characters and exotic enviroments, and the game is just rich with unexpected and unique elements everywhere.​

Aah! Gotta say I am likeing the sound of this. A very refreshing break from the mundane concepts I am used to seeing around here. Not only that, all the media and features listed look and sound top notch. I know you said not to whine, but hurry up with a demo eh?

Thanks for the support everyone, glad to hear it. ^^

I believe that I've done more than my fair share of teasing in the screenshot thread. Seeing as I'm not too busy tomorrow, I'll fix up the first post in here a bit, simply to make it a bit easier to follow. I'm also nearly finished with a trailer, which I hope to get up sometime in the near future. : )

Also, that storys looking tight as man =]
If I may ask, is the feature where the environment changes around you, as in grows mroe technologically complex as time goes on, still going on?

Aye, so it is, though I plan on making it a bit more complex than originally thought. Seeing as the world is in Anarchy, you'd expect small towns to barely change, while large cities constantly add and remove districts.
 
The hotness of this project is enough to give third degree burns to an iceberg. Very professional lookin. Lovin it~!!!

Anarchy! Not just anarchy but... Anarchy!

That sounds good actually =] have fun mapping that, and scripting it for that matter. Whats the state of the NPCs? It would be a shame to have them just walk around uttering 'this... is the town of Anarchy!' instead of being a bit more realistic. What are they gonna be like?
