Using Japanese Text in english version of RMXP/RMVX

Is it possible to use kana/kanji [ひらがな・カタカナ・漢字] in a game, for instance a character/item name or just thrown into random conversation? I've not been able to find anything that actually allows the program to recognize these as other then ??? There are suggestions to change the game fonts and supposedly there are scripts that exist that allow this but it doesn't seem to make a difference if the program itself cannot recognize the symbols cause ??? is the same in almost all fonts...

I'm a total noob to this program so I'll may need a little babying with the instructions if they exist. Thanks in advance

I am not sure, you can always just install the font onto your computer...or whatever, and then just change the font of the game using Dube's AMS, and then try it that way. I never thought to try that, so I am sure you can do that though. (Maybe not the items in the database though.)

Yes. Download the Japanese version, which allows both to be used. Also, the English version should be able to recognize both text types. If nothing else, just use the Japanese .dll which you can find by doing a Google search.

I'm hoping your entire game is in Japanese. Otherwise, I'm not sure why you would *want* to use Japanese characters. But meh, whatever I guess.

I'm really just testing a variety of things out before I start actually making a game. I'm thinking about making a game that teaches how to read Japanese so it would use both English and Japanese characters.

@Radeth I do have a variety of Japanese friendly fonts on my pc already so I'll try .

@united Where do I place the Japanese .dll when I get it? In the game folder?

Thanks again
