This plot bunny reared it's head (while I was TRYING to sleep! DX), so I wrote down everything that had come to mind relating to it. I may not do anything with it, but then again if I get good feedback and ideas to expand on what I have here, I just may try and turn it into something.
Please give me honest opinions and well thought out critique and ideas. Thank you.

Time period: Not-so-bright future
Basic theme: Humanity destroyed itself
Genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy
Details:
We see modern man as a creature that can develop amazing technology.
As more time passes, man creates more and more brilliant creations,
until all things that were originally deemed "science fiction" have
become reality, and mankind lives in bliss under the light of it's own
brilliance...
Until the Earth starts to suffer under the effects of so much resource
and energy drain that is required for these amazing things of metal to
run, and soon drought and famine plague the entire world, and not even
the wonderful machines that humans created can produce enough food for
everyone.
Humanity starts to decline rapidly. The weak and the sick die off
quickly, and still more die as the Earth's surface starts to erode,
toppling the mighty cities that man has created. Also because of the
erosion, mythical secrets buried under the earth since ancient times
are revealed, some even accidentally released, and most wish the human
race ill.
Presently, mankind is on it's last legs. Populations that once
numbered in the hundreds of thousands have been dwindled down to just
mere hundreds, if that. Men struggle to use what technology they can
build or scrap from destroyed structures, while women are kept as
virtual slaves from the time they are able to conceive until they are
too old to reproduce -- all in the name of ensuring the future of
humanity. There are no "families", just children placed with males
deemed suited to raise children. Money is utterly pointless; what
little food available is rationed out to the populace, and items of
entertainment can easily be made by anyone that wishes such things.
However, most machines that are built are either for the creation of
food, or fighting off the creatures that have been released as the
Earth continues to decay. No one knows how exactly these machines are
powered, however.
Tentative features:
* Side view battle system
* Only three playable characters
* UMS (this has already become a staple of games it seems...)
Characters (as of now):
Name: Alezra (Ah-lez-rha)
Nickname: Lezzy
Sex: Female
Age: 19
Hair: Black; long
Eyes: Blue
Height: on the short side
Weight: thin (like most people)
Weapon of Choice: (undecided)
Personality: rebellious, easy going, free spirited
Details: Such a thing as a free spirited young woman with a mind of
her own is practically unheard of in the future. Lezzy's
been fortunate to escape what would be her mule-ish fate
thanks to a kind "father" and "brother" who've done their
best to keep her identity as a female away from the
general populace. She still finds herself pursued on
occasion by collectors, and it is on one such of these times
that she ends up falling skateboard first into an old tomb.
Things are well and dandy while she hides there... until the
person buried there wakes up.
How Lezzy's identity could have been hidden: it's possible
her father could have altered records to reflect that he
was placed with two boys and not a girl and a boy. Record
keeping would be poor at best, I imagine. Though being the
kind of girl she is, Lezzy would go off on her own in
clothes that show off her assets, hence leading to her getting
caught and chased after (cheap thrill?). For her father's
sake, however, she wouldn't change until she was well away
from the house, so no one would connect her to the black
haired "boy" living in her house.
Name: Alucard de Draconius de la Christian (this is definitely gonna
get changed, except for the Draconius part)
Nickname: Drake, Drakky (hates this)
Sex: Male
Age: Lost count a thousand years ago; appears to be in his late 20s
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Green
Height: tall
Weight: average (for his original time period)
Weapon of Choice: Sword
Personality: easily amused, secretive (especially about his past), warm
and caring, a bit airheaded
Details: Alucard was originally a young lord of a mideveal castle,
until he was attacked and turned by a blood sucking demon
(not quite the staple for "vampire", as flashbacks will
reveal it was anything but human). He traveled the world
after discovering the nature of his fate, eventually adopting
a few extra names (or changing his name entirely; it was so
long ago, he's forgotten most of the details of his human
life). As mankind became increasingly dangerous to those
like him, he went underground with the other creatures,
willing himself to sleep and allowing his body to decay as
if he were nothing more than a corpse.
Lezzy's sudden drop in awakens him from his centuries long
slumber, and her shouts of surprise as her pursuers follow
her stir him to move, allowing him to get a much needed
(and rather gory) feast, allowing his body to recover.
Needless to say, Lezzy and Drake are the love interest of
the story.
Name: Derrik
Nickname: --
Sex: Male
Age: 22
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Height: tall (not as tall as Drake)
Weight: thin
Weapon of Choice: Gun
Personality: know-it-all, quick to jealousy or anger (now that I think
about it, he's a lot like Sokka from Avatar)
Details: Derrik is Lezzy's "brother" in name only; they're not actually
blood related. He goes out of his way to make sure that
Lezzy stays safe, though she tends to do the complete
opposite of what he says anyway, which leads to much
exasperated flailing on his part. He has an all out fit when
she brings Drake home like he's some kind of lost puppy,
and is utterly jealous of how nice he is to her. He's the
one that gives him the nickname of "Drakky", just to mock
him rather childishly.
Purpose of the game:
* Centers strongly on character development
* Breaking free from the constrains of a corrupt system
* Trying to find a true haven in a dead world
Please give me honest opinions and well thought out critique and ideas. Thank you.
