"Unexpected File Format"?!

Alright, I am seriously hoping for some quick help here before my trial period for XP runs out (in about a week).

To know what's going on, I have a little background info that might be nessessary. My IE, for some odd reason, likes to turn its Menu Bar (File, edit, ect) on and off really really fast for no reason at all if I ever hit the ALT button (no matter if IE is on or off). To fix this, I perform a Hard Reset (as logging out and logging back in doesn't work and I'm too afraid to do a normal reset and have it stuck this way forever) via the button on tower. This always fixes it.

However, the last time it happened, I was working on RPG Maker XP. I KNOW I saved and exited it out before I reset. But when I went to reopen the .rxproj file, a pop up pops up and says "Unexpected File Format" with only an OK button.

I tried to transplant the Data folder into new project, but got a "Failed to load item data". Furthermore, If I click on the Game activation .exe itself, I get a "Failed to load script". Hitting OK closes the window.

I've spent days on this project and I was close to finishing it to a point where I was going to download the trial of VX to recreate it to see what's easier before I buy anything. So if anyone has any idea on how to help, please do. Thanks!

My guess is you have a quirky computer. Fix it.

I've tried. On both the IE and the game... Though it might not sound like it. I'm paniking. I really don't want to loose everything.

I know this post was made in 2008 but if any1 else has this problem read my post.

This problem happens when your files get corrupt, its your database files, you cannot save the hole game but you can save the longest part in your games, your maps, all you have to do is to go into my documents and open up the folder your game is in, find your maps, copy and paste them into a new game folder, do not copy and paste anything else as they are probably corrupt and will stop the new game working.

But, some stuff will still work...like data, database, and some other stuff, so a guess and check will work.

This happened to me too. I happens becuase you hard reset your system. I'm sorry to say that there is NO FIX. You're screwed. :devil:
