Hi everybody! I've been working for some time in a project with Gozaru's faces, and this days i've been thinking of changing them to original ones, mines. My problem is that i don't know what style of the two i've made I will choose, becouse i can't say which's better...
The game's graphics are RTP editions, but with the same style (talking about characters & tilesets). Here's a screen so you can see what i'm talking about:

Well, let's go to the point: the faces. This are sketchs. I mean, they aren't corrected. But if you see that something is TOO wrong, please tell me ^^
Here's the "chibi" style:

This is the main character, a 17-year-old boy.
(WAA! the neck is HORRIBLE :dead:)

And this style is a little more serious:

Is the main character, too.
(WAAA! HORRIBLE neck, too! T____T)

Here's the last style. This have some things of the anime style, and some others of my style, that is similar to the cartoon style.

What do you think?

Well, I just want to know which style is better to use with the RTP and edits of it, or which one do you like more.
The game have a fantasy story, and it's not too humorous, but not too serious... I don't know how to classify it...

I'm trying to make a Topic of the game, but it's a bit difficult to explain it all in english... But i'll try ;)

Thank you very much!
And sorry for my rusty English...
Bye!

EDIT: Oh, and sorry if this is the wrong forum to put this, but is the better i could find...

there's like almost no differnce :O
Yes, I know... they are very similar. But... they're different, too. (English, English, EEEEngliiish! ¬¬)

'Serious' style looks better, more well-formed.  Make sure to ink and shrink it though.  =O It rhymes!
Ink? Shrink? Well, i've looked for them at the dictionary xD
Yes, i'll ink and paint the faces, don't worry, they're just sketchs.
And... shrink?? do you mean to make them smaller? I mean, 100px x 100px or something??

I'd go with the latter. Merely because it's more well-drawn.
Yes, it looks better for me too, but the other, when corrected, could be more... tender?
Is "tender" the word?

Well, I'm not sure what you mean, but if you can develop the style, and work out some of the iffy areas, the former may be a solid choice, but... as it stands, the second one is your best bet.

Depends on the seriousness of your game. If its light hearted go with the first but if it's more like serioius or mature then go with the second one.

As for the necks... first one is too small second one is a bit too thick. On the second one see that line you drew inside the neck? that should be the outside line of the neck instead. Just draw it in a little more. Necks are easy to fix. Just play with it  a bit more.

The second style have more features. I mean, I can make two different faces look different easier that whith the one style. (I don't know if "features" is the word...)
I'm thinkin in choosing the second one. I'll see...

Yes, i've thought that, too. The game is a fantasy game... mmm there's like "other world" inside the Earth, and a boy "discover" it... But it won't be funny or serious... It's in the middle, i think...

Yes, i've already fixed them in the paper. They look horrible here. Later I'll change the pictures.

Thank you!! (all of you!)

You want a serious suggestion? You're not a good enough artist to do anime and not have it look pretty bad. I'd suggest you work a little more with face drawing tutorials and see what you can come up with in a more conventional style.
I can't understand this part: "not have it look pretty bad"... what do you mean? :S
I've been looking that web, and i liked it, thanks! I think my bigger problem is with the fornt-eyes. I mean, the eyes when the face is front (like in the sketchs).
That's becouse my real style is not realistic and not anime... is more like a cartoon, but i'm sure that it doesn't fit with the RTP style... (and, for this moment, i'm not going to make original graphics. Perhaps in the future!)
I'm trying other styles, but for the moment this two are the best... I will show you if I made a better one, JA!

Give the first one the hairstyle of the second one, and you'll get a neat looking character face. That's what I think.
I'll try, but i don't see too much differences...

Bye!
Thanks!

It is pretty much the first face, with longer hair. I'm sorry, but I tend to transform what would be one sentence into 10 lines of commenting sometimes.

>.> Forums move so fast.

What I meant by 'shrink' is like 96px by 96px.  Everything looks way smoother and more assured when it's smaller.  Some cartoonists even rely on that to make their work look good.

Ink before you reduce the size, or else it'll make the point moot.

The hair? Ok, I'll try with that. But I had understood you, don't worry ;)

Yes, this forums are really active. But the spanish ones are more... well, they seem like turtles xD

Yes, I use 100px by 100px faces. I was thinking of making the faces smallers, but it would be really, really hard becouse of the eyes (i can't draw front eyes very well). Perhaps I could draw the eyes bigger, separated of the faces, but wouldn't the people notice it?
Yes, don't worry. I always ink my paintings before scanning them, and then I put vectors with illustrator, for a more digital look.

Thank you!

Hi everybody!
Well, I'm going to quote me:

I've been working in this "cartoon" style, modifying it to fit better with the RTP (making it more similar to anime style, i think...), and this is the result: (or "outcome"?, whatever)
http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/3125/faces2pt0.jpg[/img]
But the problem: eyes ¬¬ I hate the eyes of my paintings! ¬¬ JAJA
Well, that's all, for the moment.
I'll edit the first topic.

See you!

dude go with the left one. THe right one just looks like bad anime. On the left play with the style of nose and lift the ear up. It shouldn't be that far down. Raise his eyes higher too (that'll make him look older as well).
