Two recent interiors I made...

Say, those are pretty nifty! The 3D team at my job (architectural firm) do things like that (I'm on the 2D team). Do you work at an archt. firm too?

Thanks, Ven. It's actually a small company, creating misc multimedia content. Once in a while I get to do things like these :) Hopefully I'll advance in some time, maybe to a company like yours (need someone from the other side of the world? :D).

In the 3rd and 4th images the sun outside looks like from SW while it enters through the windows from NE... :D
Aside from this little joke, they are amazing, I've seen many of them on deviantart but these impressed me.

Excellent environments! But the only weak point is the damn flower! lol That's the only thing that I didn't like... The rest, looks grea. You use Vray as renderer? I like it. Neat stuff.

Thx. I don't quite like the flower either, but just haven't got the time to work on it too long. Better luck nex time maybe :D
Oh, and yes, Vray is the renderer, as mentioned in the first post :)

No I haven't :> I said it was Vray. how many times do I have to repeat that? :d ^^
And no render farm either. Just my PC. That's why it took about 20 hrs to a 2800x2100 resolution :)

You might try using C4D to render. Epic radiosity capabilities, and it's still the fastest renderer on the market (last I checked).

But you know, these are really quite good. I mean, I don't think people realize that images like these that use really simple geometry are 90% lighting when it comes to looking so good. Because, really, there are three things that really impress me here -

First, great job on the lighting. I don't know how much work the renderer you use did, but the lighting definitely meets its 90% quota here.

Second, like I said, the geometry itself is really simple, but there were two things that really caught my eye - the couch, and the curtains. Actually, I take that back. The couch, the couch, the couch! How did you do that? Did you do it with cloth or other such deformers, or did you do the wrinkles by hand?

Finally, please tell me where you get your textures.

Too bad you like the couch so much, as it comes from a set of models bought to speed up the work :D
Textures are mostly from the web, except the floor stones - these are pictures of actual products.
The Cinema4D renderer may be fast, but it's still inferior to Vray pretty much, which I'm very used to, so there's no point to switch to C4D now.
And yeah, you're right, the lighting does most of the job. Lighting + materials, which in Vray are just great. Not as complex as Mental-Ray's shaders, but the effects are even better (at least when it comes to creating architectual materials).

Oooh, the couch... my dreams...

Anyway, I don't know about the comparative values of the two renderers quality-wise, but I do know that a lot of very photorealistic stuff comes out of C4D, but I do know that my own brief forays into photorealism, while not quite on par with yours (I have issues with specularity, most often), only take 1-2 hours to render in a scene of comparable complexity.
