Two questions about sprites (RMXP)

1. How big is the box for each of the 16 different poses in a charset? Does size matter?

2. Is there a way to get the whole game to work on a RPGMaker 200X scale? Like if you put a character from one of those games into this one, it'd not take up a full square on the map. Can I change the base size of the grid?

Any help is appreciated =^^= I'm sorry if this isn't the place I should post this, but I'm not exactly sure.

1.) Ok size in this case doesn't matter. Whatever the width is gets cuts into 4. The same happens to the height. So if you have a sprite sheet that is 200x200 pixels. The width and height of one cell is 50(200/4) pixels.

2.) I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Could you elaborate? Or hopefully someone who owned RPGMaker2000 knows or remembers. Sorry about that.

Good luck with it Antikythera! :thumb:

Thanks a bunch for number 1, that really helped!

What I mean with two, though, is... well, I think one cell on RMXP is 32 x 48 as far as I can tell. One cell on 2000 is... I'm not sure how much smaller, but definitely smaller. So if you use 2000 RTP sprites on XP, it leaves lots of blank space between the characters. I was just wondering if I could get the grid itself smaller I. E. essentially, make a game on XP that's 2000-quality in terms of graphics.

Ahh now I see what you mean. I believe the design grid is fixed sadly. I'm sure you thought of it but conversion of the sprites you need to a larger size through some bitmap editing program might be best. Unless you have a lot of sprites. And of course they would lose quality during that.

Hmm... it's not inherently bad that there's space in between, I just don't know how good it would look. It might not be noticeable, or maybe... Hmm, I tried resizing but oddly enough 2000 doesn't seem to be exactly four times smaller than XP, even though the screen itself is. Probably because of more actual grid spaces? Anyway, what that means for me is anything other than direct multiples like 200%, 300% &c. would distort, so I think it's either deal with the empty space or...

I'll have to think about whether I should use 2000 or XP. All I want to do is work on a game with my friends; it's not planned to be a blockbuster or anything.

EDIT: Small side note... is it okay to use "blockbuster" when talking about games? Seeing as how they rent them out now.
