Hi I'm an experienced WC3 mapper and I just start RM a week ago. Here's the game I wanted to make. The story summary is less than half done. I'm looking for C&C, suggestions and advice of anything like the terraining, story, etc. so I can improve the map. Thank you.

Twilight of Everleryn
PROLOGUE
Two Gods whom governed space and time created a world called Celelynia. Celelynia featured two different lands; each land had its own nation and culture. The lands were separated by divine means so that the Gods could monitor each race’s progress on their own.

Behold, for there are two levels in Celelynia.

The Goddess of Dawn created the land above – the tranquil world of Everleryn. It is where nature and peace chooses to flourish. No wars had ever occurred here. Although the nation is lowly advanced in terms of technology and means of combat, they are very content here. Everleryn is very beautiful – it’s abundant with waterfalls, rivers, ancient structures and mountains.

The God of Twilight created the land below – the magical world of Agranoa. Practically everyone knows magic here, and there are many expert fighters wielding magically enchanted weapons. Some wizards are so adept that they are close to the level of being a Demi-God. Consequently, countless wars had occurred here. Not too long ago, there was an incident of unprecedented evil that had conjured up an immense darkness that forced all the nations to settle their grievances and form a global alliance.

The land is now barren and dark, riddled with a race of grotesque monsters and undead creatures named the Fearea by the Arganoans. Countless raids and sieges by the Fearea occur on the daily basis. Not only that, the Feareans has plans of taking the battle to Everleryn to expand their territory.

This is a story about the adventures of a boy who grew up in Everleryn. Not just an ordinary boy – for he is the sole hope of Celelynia.

PLOT SUMMARY
• The protagonist is a boy named Rini.

[Rini]
Rini is a good-natured hunter, who is under the apprenticeship of his father. Many people look down on him because they think that there is no need for a weapon and eating animals. He denies it by saying it’s a hobby and how delicious meat is compared to vegetables.

• One day the unexpected happens, and shadows start spawning all over the world, which has already been peaceful since the beginning of time.
• His father tried to get him to deliver a message to the village Chief regarding the danger. The chief thought it was a fraud and tore up the message.

* * * * * Q & A * * * * *
Q. Why has this happened? What has the Everlerians done?
A. Because of an ancient prophecy that went ignored and laughed at. The prophecy goes that the land shall be devoured by shadows should the day come. An evil so great even the prophet does not know of should arise.

Q. How did his father know of the danger?
A. Rini’s father:

[Senin]
An Agranoan master Hunter. He is the first Agranoan to find out the method of travelling to the land of Everleryn. He found this out during his one of his hunts. He knew the village is going to be under attack on the day and told Rini to go hunting earlier so that he wouldn't be left to face the dangers of the raid.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

• Rini went out for hunting. When he got back, the village was in ruins, overrun by the Feareans and his mother was killed along with a lot of other people. He never finds out what happens to his father.
• He manages to see catch his mother on her dying breath. She tells him to be safe, and whatever happens just go somewhere lead an ordinary life. Being the person Rini is, he knows he cannot do that. There’s only one thing he knows to do.
• The Elder managed to survive. He claims Rini is a heretic, and has troubled the wrath of the gods. He ends up fighting the elder, whom has studied in the art of magic.
• Miserable and unknowing what to do, he walks out of the village alone, left alone to face the dark dangers of the lands. There is nothing left for him to do except one thing. His heart is engulfed with the desire for revenge, and the desire to find his missing father.
• He was about to give up – he had travelled for ages with lots of monster encounters to no avail. Suddenly while he was trekking the forest, he sees a girl covered in scratches fighting off a monster along with a dead escort by her side.
• After rescuing her, she says she’s from another continent that he never knew existed. She is very thankful for the help, but insists that she must hurry and be going. She tells him she was on the way to his village to deliver a message to warm them of the perilous attack of the shadows.

* * * * * Q & A * * * * *
Q. How could this mysterious continent have existed for so long without knowledge to the Everlerians?
A. It was a continent that existed since the beginning of time. The gate through which it is possible to traverse across to Arganoa is hidden by the darkness and is protected by divine means created by the Gods.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

• As she was about to leave him, Rini tells the girl that her message is already too late and destruction has already occurred. Not having any leads, he implores her to come with him to set out and kill the one responsible for this mess. She refuses and says it’s a fool’s mission, because the one responsible is probably a force so powerful no one could possibly stand up to it.
• She tells him she’s changing course to the capital to warn them of the peril. Rini thinks that he might as well go with her because there are no other productive things he could do.
• She’s astounded that she has seen an Everlerian with good weapon skills – for there are no other Everlerians in the land that knows how to use one effectively. She tells him her name’s Luciana.

[Luciana]
The princess of Arganoa. She is highly skilled in White magic/Exorcism.
She is helping the Everlerians because the Agranoans wish to warn the Everlerians of the coming of the Feareans and offer a treaty to achieve a common goal of eliminating the monsters. She had no idea that she was going to be one step late against the evil monsters. She had thought that when she arrived in Everleryn, the land would still have been peaceful.
She has a tsundere personality. She appears to others as tough on the outside, but she is actually a very kind and sweet girl on the inside.

• After a while of travelling, Rini tells her of the forbidden ancient library where the prophecies are stored. His dad used to talk about that library and its magnificent texts.
• When they arrive, the town is in ruins as well. The library is haunted and in flames. All the documents were burnt and destroyed. They were fortunate and manage to find a scrap of a text. It provides very vague instructions of how to proceed should the time of crisis come. They will need to awaken the ancient Spirits of Twilight - each of the spirit a personification of the person who awakens them.
• Luciana thinks it’s still foolish to try and find the one responsible, since she is only here because she’s on a diplomatic mission after all. But she cannot resist the temptation of gaining a powerful way to defeat the shadows.
• Even Luciana does not know how to awaken the spirits. What they need is a scholar and they know where to find one – in the most prestigious academy called Lesanir located in the northern mountains.
• When they arrive at the academy, they lay witness to a siege. A lot of shadow monsters, a robed figure and a huge beast were charging up onto the academy’s gates. They reach the gate and the beast starts ramming it. There were many scholarly mages trying to defend their home with the spells that they had learnt over the years of study. Few moments later, many scholars and monsters die. Rini and Luciana think that it’s enough and charge up to fight the monsters even at the cost of their own lives.
• They manage to defeat the beast; a lot of the monsters and a still few remain. The robe figure manages to flee and warns them that next time they will pay dearly for the interference.
• As they walk up to the courtyard of the academy they witness a scene. A noble student confidently smiles at the huge monster in front of him, as if inviting it to come closer. The monster rages toward him without a second thought. The student smiles even wider, lets out a contempt “hmmph” and calmly whispers a few words. Abruptly, the monster is repelled more than 20 feet away. Upon close examination, its head is fire, it’s left with a burning stomach and several features of its demonic appearance are missing.

• They ask him for help in finding the spirits of Twilight, and he immediately refuses. He insists that he does not have any interest in people’s foolish ambitions. He is also very arrogant, probably even more than Luciana. Just as they were going to look for the master of the academy, he takes interest in Luciana. He comments on how different she looks, and questions the possibility she’s from Arganoa. Luciana tells him he’s right.
• Being a scholar, he is very interested in the mysteries of the other world. He warns them that asking the Spirits of Twilight for help is no joking matter because they each have a perilous test to examine the might of the requester. He asks will they still go, even though they will likely die. Rini has no hesitation on that question but Luciana does. She is still on a diplomatic mission after all.
• After a while of thought, she came to the conclusion that she had seen how innocent and weak the people of Everleryn are and if she doesn’t help them by herself, Argonoa will not either because they will not find Everleryns very useful in combat.

• She eventually agrees to help, sighing a lot in the process. He then introduces himself to them in a very gentleman-like manner.
[Arcus]
The prodigy of Lesanir. A natural born magus, highly skilled in the powers of bending fire to his will. He has a twisted personality – you are always not able to tell from a glance whether he is your enemy or your friend. Later, he betrays Rini by allying with the shadows – i.e. becomes an antagonist.
[SCENE PLANNING]
{Hunting Scene before day One}
• Senin takes him hunting at the outskirts of the village. i.e. effectively introduces the battle system. First he shows Rini how it’s done in a very flashy manner then he asks Rini to give it his all. They then fight a bigger animal together - they had troubled its mother.
• Need a day/night system maybe to be implemented because they leave hunting when it’s dusk. Either that or tells him that’s enough for today.

Okay I just read your plot and I got some comments

- The thing with main's home town destroyed is used alot but if you can't find another way of doing it I will let it slip

- The girl that was going to give the messenger... Why would a princess deliver a messenger? wouldn't a servant or soldier seem better for that task?
And if not why?

That's all I going to say for now :)

/good luck

Thanks for reading, I just wrote the answer to that unanswered question - i hope it will suffice :P
Q. Why is she helping the Everlerians?
A. Because the Agranoans wish to warn the Everlerians of the coming of darkness and offer a treaty to achieve a common goal of eliminating the monsters. There was no other person well trained enough and of royal blood except for the princess.

Scratches head about the main's town being destroy = cliche. Hmm I think it's the only way I can go about it to make the story believable. Otherwise he wouldn't be exiled and still be living an ordinary life etc...

I dont get how the princess can fight off monsters ussaly thats the princes job and i think its kind of wierd that a princess is delivering the message

As far as I can see, almost all of it can be done with RMXP without any problem. The part about the mage smiling and lightning the stomach of the monster on fire will be very tricky if you actually make it cinematic. I have no idea how you would go about that.

Anyway, I see one potential problem scenario. The protagonist's motivation is revenge and to prove his innocence. For him it's obviously very important, but what about the player? The player has at this point seen how the protagonist's fellow villagers look down on him and when something went wrong, choose the easy solution and blamed the least popular one. Chance is the player don't think the protagonist should ever return to that village hence proving his innocence wouldn't be a big priority.

Go through your story and try to estimate where you have the player. It's not enough that the protagonist consider his current task worthwhile, the player also has to do so else she/he will be bored.

I see one lesser problem as well. The explanation for why they sent the princess doesn't seem sufficient. She's well trained enough for what? Monster killing? There's no way they send a princess to chew her way trough a horde of monsters. I would suggest that she was sent on a mission that was intended to be entirely diplomatic, the Agranoans thought the princess would be done with her mission and back before monsters actually start appearing on the otherwise peaceful continent or something like that. Heck, Rini does tell her she's a bit to late, so it's already in your game that the monsters moved faster than expected. The princess also should have been given an escort.

Thank you and have a sarcastic day...

Cheers mate for the C&C. Very good points about the princess, idk about an escort though because that might give the player too many NPCs to work with early in the story. Ok I know- I'll make the escort die, just before Rini arrived to the scene. Revised the script and imo its much better now :P

Right now I've finished designing and programming the first part of the game in rmxp - including the ruined town which i made custom graphics for. Just have to design the forest now and I can get a demo up :)

Is there a way I can make summons or overdrives using the RYE system? Either that or transformation into another powerful being for a short time. I'm using Rice CBS 0.6 atm. Need something so that something like guardian spirits can be implemented.

Much appreciated.

Played it a bit.

Details are good, but I generally put the main character's penis into the not-really-necessary category.

For some reason my character has two Bronze Spears. I guess he's prepared in case one of them breaks.

My character also has a really impressive skillset. A multi-target physical attack that does more than 10 times the standard attack in damage? A summon that gives me access to a 6 digit damage attack? Now we're talking!

Unfortunately, I seem stuck. After I was told it's hunting time, I went down a screen. The encounter rate is ridiculous and I can't escape that place. I'm not in a danger though, the encounters can't hurt me at all.

Thanks for checking it out mate.
The guy's penor was generated by the character maker >.> I'm not good with drawing sprites, but I can try adding pants to him later on.
Also... obviously the character's skills are not done yet and the place you got stuck is what I've got done so far. :)
