HITORY OF TWILIGHT ISLANDS:
Twilight Islands is where dreams are born. It is broken up into many different islands: Land of Light, Land of Fire, Land of Ice, Land of Earth, and Land of Dark:Oblivion. In the real world, everytime someone sleeps a dream is created and added to the islands. When someone has a bad dream a sinister being is created within Oblivion.
GOAL OF TWILIGHT DREAMS:
Your objective in this game is to follow Rana and protect her from the Death Rogues and other enemies. Occasionally you will wake to find yourself in a new world, a world known as Twilight Islands, the dream world. But, remember, all dreams are not good dreams and you may find yourself in deep trouble with the Dark Ones when in this world. When you fist arrive at the islands you will realize that most areas are blocked off and that each island that makes up this world contains a specific attribute and spiritual leader. To gain access to new areas on the islands you must pray at the correct sanctuary...

This is the complete HUD(Beta) for the game. Naturally, the green bar represents Health and the blue represents Mana. The red bar represents your Dream level. When your dream level reaches 10, you can activate a dream. Dreams are obtained only in Twilight Islands and can be something that raises your attack power or defense power or even make you temporarily invincible. Dreams can be viewed from the menu(see second spoiler for a screenshot of the menu). Another cool thing with this game is the Summon feature. The summon display is located on the top left of the screen. When you summon a holy spirit in this game, the spirit provides much aide without actually attacking your enemies. Each spirit that is summoned upgrades your weapon to an elemental weapon as well as provide the best elemental attack for the correct summon(EX: If Pyro is summoned, you will have the 'Twilight Flare' Tech for a small period of time, and if Undine is summoned you will have  access to 'Twilight Tsunami')

Skyus Moonshadow is the hero of the story. He is an ex-bounty hunter and is still feared by his enemies. Skyus is assigned the, in his eyes, horrible task of escorting Rana Heart to a nearby city. Skyus tends to keep his past a secret from most, but it becomes difficult to hide his life from Rana when he keeps running into past foes and long forgotten towns and cities. Will Skyus be able to remain a mystery or will Rana work her magic on yet another bodyguard? Skyus is referred to as 'Skyus the Brave' while on Twilight Islands.

Rana Heart is a very lively being. She often gets over excited and loves to pick at Skyus, while trying to make him more cheerful. She is very found of people, especially Skyus, and flowers. Rana is on the run, from what Skyus refers to as Death Rogues, for the simple fact that she knows the secret of the sanctuary's. Rana is referred to as 'Rana the Dreamer' while on Twilight Islands.

Kade Wind is a brave historian. He will do everything he can to learn as much as possible. He runs into Skyus and Rana while he was studying the supernatural at the "ruins" of an old sanctuary. He is very fond of books and artwork. As a historian, Kade is quickly branded the "wisest" of the group. Kade is referred to as 'Kade the Wise'

Death Rogues are a very special group of demons. As rogues they left the one they pledged loyalty to for a being they considered stronger and more powerful. They were given the name "Death Rogues" by Skyus when he learned they once worked for the Reaper, and when Skyus explains these creatures to Rana and Kade, Kade is shocked that there is being more powerful than Death. Death Rogues seek Rana Heart and Skyus Moonshadow for unknown reasons.

The Dark Ones were born within Twilight Islands on the land of Oblivion. The main objective of the Dark Ones is to taint as much divine land as they possibly can, however, some Dark Ones have hidden agendas. They are considered to be the  a "Nightmare's of a Dream". They seek Rana for her secrets and they will stop at nothing to learn the purpose of Twilight Islands. They are very strategic and very secretive. As they were created in Twilight Islands, they cannot leave the islands. They send they're dark minions to do the dirty work for them...
REALESE DATE AND DEMO INFO:
I plan on releasing Chaos Origins and Twilight Dreams at the same time. I am just starting to get working on Twilight Dreams, with a few months story planning and I don't expect it to be completed soon. I plan on taking my time and making it look like a great game and I'm definitely not going to rust production. I plan on making Twilight Dreams have around 4-5 hours gameplay and Chaos Origins have a little over 3 hours. For those who are at least a little interested in Twilight Dreams, a demo will be available soon with at least an hour of gameplay. This seems like a project worth watching.  But could you add a little bit more to the story?
I really want to hear more.  Also, could you tell us more about Rana?

One last thing:I know that 2 of the faces(Dark Ones and Rana) are created by Hanzo Kimura.  I dunno if you have to, but I think you should credit him
 
This project looks very interesting, having an original story-concept and cast of characters.  Some things are not very clear, like why does Skyus wake up in the twilight islands and what is this sanctuary that Rana knows the secret of?

By the way, your VX mapping is pretty good, although you shouldn't really have them in this subforum. :/

wow... great catch... I had a credits section on one of my posts on one site, I guess I forgot to copy it when I transfered it here^^. I'll fix it now
 
The premise is so like my game. : > Which results in me being only able to give you two thumbs up! Congrats on being the first to have a good looking VX screenshot that I have seen, too. Great mapping. =) The Katakana is kind of ridiculous, though. From what I can tell this game has no connections to that country whatsoever.

Cool... Glad you like it as much as I do^^
You're probably right about the katana, but as Hanzo made it it's a little late to change my mind O_o
 
Haha, well at least it's not Japanese but US-Japanese. From what I can read the last part is "Derimazu" as in "Dreams", and Dream itself in Japanese is Yume, so it's not completely silly. ^___^
 
holy fucking SHIT that map is busy as balls. generally you shouldnt fill up EVERY SPACE ON THE MAP with something and especially not with the vx rtp as it JUST DOESNT LOOK RIGHT! there IS a difference between making a nice, detailed map, and just slapping random stuff down on every open spot, you know!
 
Not to mention there's too many colours there. You have bright blue doors (with a blue-ish roof), bright orange fire, pink flowers, blue water, and the rest is mostly green. All those colours make the map seem very bust. I suggest maybe taking out the fires and giving the maps a little more empty space, as to not overwhelm the player.

It looks much better in game... But there is also a story behind all the plant and wildlife... For every child the orphanage gets, the child plants something. There has been many children at the orphanage^^. Even the holes play a part in the story^^ The plants play a major part in the story dealing with Rana(but, it's a secret and 'no' she was not born in Windy Falls)
There is many colors... Don't really have an explanation for that(It just turned out that way). And the fires are only lit on the first day you visit at night, they go away about 10 minutes after you enter the village
 
It might look better if you have an actual garden or specified area where the children plant their plants. Right now it simply looks too cluttered and busy. If there were an area perhaps where they'd plant the plants it would not only make more sense but look better.
 
whether it plays an important part or not it still looks bad? do as dadevester said and make a GARDEN since thats where people usually plant things, in gardens, not ALL OF THE PLACE.

This is a shot of the menu system for Twilight Islands. Notice the new 'Dream' command... This allows you to view your current dreams that you can use to make you more powerful in battle. The background was made by me using photoshop, made from scratch. The windowskin used in the menu is a slight mod of the default windowskin.

Credits have been updated with a new team member. Sakabilli is now an official DreamSoft photoshop artist...
