[TS]A few tilesets by Mack

I found these tilesets wile poking around the net hope they'll work in a game.
SN - I did not make these wish I did but I didn't. And I don't know if they've been posted before here.

We don't. What people are upset about is you posting/using them without knowing. It's fine to forget who's done something. Everyone's done it at least once. However, it is copyright infringement to then use it or post it without credit.

If you don't know who made something, don't post it for other people to use. Don't use them yourself. Post a thread asking if anyone knows, or search for the artist.

Gee, I've been by Mack's page. How did I miss this? It's exactly the kind of tileset I've been looking for.

However, it is copyright infringement to then use it or post it without credit.

Yep, and even with credit given it can still be illegit if the author forbids unauthorized distribution of the work as most do. Just checked Mack's page and he forbids it. (secretly however I'm glad you posted it 'cause I missed it the first time!)

While we're on the subject...
On my never-ending scavenges across the web for material to use in my games I couldn't help but notice that some of the best resources out there come from the Japanosphere. Why don't I go right out and say that the most and the best XP material is not surprisingly made by the Japanese.

As I can read Japanese and know of many nifty sites, I was wondering if any of you would find it useful were I to write up a kind of guide. Or at least a guide to finding character resources on the J-web (character sets are mainly what I've been interested in personally). I could translate the author's terms of use for the material so that there would be no excuse for not abiding by them. Might also cut down on the number of sprite requests we get here. What do you think? Would that be worthwhile?

I'll remember that next time I go poking around the net and find some stuff for XP. Or maybe I'll post the link to the site if I can't remember who did it.

Well not as much interest in my offer as I thought. I won't make it a priority then.

Say, has anyone used this tileset?
I'm a bit confused as to what some of the tiles are used for. Does anyone have an example?

Also, it appears that there is only support for making outdoor buildings two squares high, causing windows to look silly on them.

Am I even doing this right? Here's my map:

Those are buildings, but I don't have much of a clue what some of the other tiles do.

No wonder! Thanks, cos. If my map ends up looking half as sharp as that one does I'll be delighted.
Btw, do you know if anyone has done an edit of that tileset? It would be nice to have a building roof tile in other colors besides red.

Yup, MACK and his website is Loose Leaf.
If you use the materials he asks that you include something like
"MACK Looseleaf http://www.mogunet.net/~mack/" in your game's staff roll, readme, manual, or website.

On second consideration, ceiling-less buildings isn't going to work too well in my game; the tileset probably doesn't have enough modern city stuff for what I had planned. Guess the search for a good city tileset must go on.

I'm sure you can make yourself a roof tile for the buildings if you really wanted to use the tileset. :\

That's because you lack firsthand knowledge of my general incompetence when it comes to working with graphics :D
Nah, it's a simple task for sure but I don't trust myself to not screw it up. I'll ask someone.
