Trying out some HK sprites

Firstly, this is basically the first pixel art I've ever done. I really had a lot of fun making it, and I'd love to do an entire game in it, so I'd like some help on where I can improve.

So this is the plain, longsleeve top I made:

I think I went a bit overboard on the highlights, and my dithering just comes out kind of weird; I do it irregularly and not in a grid, I like doing it that way so if it doesn't look too bad I won't change it. Also, is the shading at the base of the stomach a bit much?

Here's a pic of a female HK wearing the top, and a skirt with the same problems. Credit HKCP (specifically Venetia) for the hair and shoes.

I'd appreciate any constructive feedback and critique whatsoever =]

EDIT: Do you think the palettes I'm using are good or should I change them? In my game I'm going to shift hue so lots of different people will wear the same clothes, but in different combinations and in different colours.

When you define the boobs to that degree, you make it look like she's wearing spandex. The front view isn't too bad, but make them less distinct in the side view. I think you have more jagged stuff on the sleeve than you want, also; it almost looks like there are stripes, except they're not very well defined, so I think you should clean it up and focus on the form more. Also, because of the way you did the light, the skirt looks more round on top than you meant it to, I think. Try straight vertical highlights if it's shiny or a more centered one if not.

As for the palette, it's not glaringly out of place, but you might want to use official HKCP palettes since they're available.

Nice job for a first attempt!

Thanks for the response, Peri =]
I redid the palette with an HKCP one (I'm glad it was 5 colours so I could cut down one), then redid a bit of shading in the front & back.

It took me a while to work out what I needed to do for the breast definition, I think it worked out for the front but I had some trouble with the sides. I like the front view and the stationary side views but I'm not so sure about the walking side views. Any tips to get the shape right?
For the sides I pulled the stomach in because the front looked really square, does it look better now? Also I added a neckline for the sides this time which for some reason I didn't have.

I'm having a LOT of trouble with my skirt; when she's walking, I wanted a shadow between the legs for the piece of the skirt shifting back but it comes out looking really awkward, any tips?

This is A Tad Weird

This is not a helpful comment. In the future, please either leave some useful description of why it's weird or don't post. Thanks. ~Perihelion
