Tropicana

TROPICANA

STORY

July 23, 2009. An explorer made a discovery when venturing though the woods: a previously unknown set of ruins! He rushed his way back to civilization to inform the Royal Tropicana Government of this discovery. The RTG, fearing another artifact raid, secretly messaged the Department of Archaeology telling of this discovery. The Department immediately dispatched their best field worker: Harold Baxter.

Shortly after arriving to the island of Tropicana, Harold overheard a conversation: the island's Mafia had learnt about the ruins and were on their way to steal anything of value! Being a man of ancient wonders, Harold sets out to stop the Mafia. He encounters new friends, makes new enemies, and learns the truth about the Mafia...

Is this by chance the offical website for your game?

http://www.tropicana.com/

:D
No, that's not my site. I sorta forgot to mention that this game has nothing to do with the orange juice.

this is strange looking... why does it look like a NES game?
I wanted a unique graphic style for my game, so I chose to use the NES palette and limit all character set sizes to 32x32.

I think because it's the way he wants it to look XD
Yep. The style makes the game stick out that much more :)

Revealing some new information!

As some of you my know, Tropicana has a GPS option in Harold's PDA which allows him to view all of the island. Of course, he needs to actually visit those areas to from the show up on the map ;)

Current Map progress:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a229/ ... aMap-3.png[/IMG]

Because this map is meant to be a "satellite" image, it is 90-100% accurate of what is seen in-game. However, it is incomplete, so what I am looking for is some constructive criticism on it so far.

*curses you for using such a small font in the main post*

You've got a really good back story here, Yeyinde, along with a rather colorful cast of characters. Reading about them reminds me oddly of the characters from Cave Story. Damned if I know why.

I've already given my opinion of the graphics, but I'll say again that I love the 8-bit style. It's different, while still taking advantage of what RMXP can do in terms of graphical capacity. Reminds me so much of my beloved Nintendo. :<

The satellite-view map looks really good, although I'd tone down the grid lines a little bit. Maybe make them a different color. I'm not sure; but as they are, they're rather distracting.

And... heh. RTP. Cute.

I can't wait for this game to come out. The only thing that's going to kill me is the small screen size, but I'll make an exception for this. <3

i think you should tell people that you are aiming to look like a NES. a lot of people will come on and see the screens and not understand.

I like the look to tell the truth, :D its original :D

I like the nes style graphics but I think it may be harder on the user whos playing because they may strain to see the character. I don't know, just an opinion. Good luck.

Dude, Is Madison gonna be a normal RTP sprite ;)? This game, is NOT the best game for 24. But it's still the best game for 24 Days. I love the looks, the features, Harold(Oh so cute!!!!). You own Ye.

Leik OMG Final Fantasy RUELZ!!!!!!11!1!!one

Just bringing this up to tell everyone that I haven't given this project up, so comment peoples!
