Tonight's 3D scene

I really like it. Reminds me of the subway in Silent Hill 3. Probably because there isn't a single person in the subway. I'd love to try 3d Max too, but I'm not sure if my computer is fast enough to render 3d :(

Thanks all!
hima, you don't need a super-computer to try. You need it later, when you get to know all the nifty stuff :] I've started "maxing" with 256MBs of RAM and a single core 1,8GHz cpu. But I know few people who tried it on even slower machines. Basically, if your computer is slow try getting some older version of the program. Cheers : )

Holy s#!t frijoles, that's cool! It really looks very much like the style of the other battle backgrounds in RTP. And yeah it looks a little Silent-Hill-ish ... I think it's the grainyness.

Only turnoff are those thick black outlines on the columns. Smooth those out and you got yourself a nice piece of 3Dness. Grats!

Awesome Bro

It instantly reminds me of the Matrix Revolutions at the Train station. I do like it a lot, You should give the walls a bit of an underground feel. Ripped stickers, old advertisements, Grafitti!

Those black lines were meant to be chrome, but since there's just a dark wall behind the camera, there's not much reflecting in them : (
Glad you like it, guys, but I won' make a game with wih these ; )

Try adding some bump mapping for best results, man
in the material editor copy the same material used in diffuse onto bump and play with the amount.
As result, planes will look as having thousands of polys when in fact it will merely be a flat surface. This works great specially for tiles and bricks.

I know how to use bump mapping ; ) The wall tiles are bump mapped, which can be seen pretty clearly, especially on the columns. The floor tiles were meant to be plain marble plates, so there's no place for bumps.

nice ^_^

that pillar on the left... it looks like there is a black rectangle around it, but it all looks good anyway :D
I really like the smooth lighting ^_^

Didi you just figure that out, or do you take a course... or do tutorials... ???

I am trying to learn that program... only thing is... well, it like walking into the cockpit of a huge airplane...

You can do anything with it, but there are about a million different buttons, switches... and random stuff...

My big problem is texturing the things... and getting them right.

But anyway, good job with that ^_^

Thanks, Kraft. I've been figuring out the ligting for almost two years now :D It was a pain in the ass at first, but finally I've some improvement. About the time I got a new machine. Learning realistic lighting on a slow machine is a suicide... waiting whole night to test one light setting... wrrr :D
If you want to try some tutorials for Vray (3dsmax plugin for rendering) I can recommend http://www.evermotion.org and it's manufacturer site http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R1/
