Timer for XP

I am making a really simple game that you run around and try to dodge bombs..., and I need it to have a time limit so if you drag around you will get GAME OVER.. I've been trying to get the timer to work for like 2 years before I joined this site.
Its just really anoying when the time runs out and the game just keeps going... :|: So plzzzzzz If anyone knows how to get the timer running I would be extremely Greatful? So

What, exactly, have you tried?

Normally, for a timer event, you need two events, or at least two event pages.

One event needs to start the timer. It needs to run exactly once, so use Self Switches or a Switch or something to make sure that it doesn't restart.

The second event needs to be Parallel Process. This is the event that checks the timer-- it'll use a Conditional Branch to check it.

But that's how you do it.
