The subject of today’s top story is Cast Aside. After a long break Anaryu, part of the team behind contest-winning game Outlaw City, has returned and brought with him a new episode of team Anamei’s most recent project. Newer members who haven’t seen it before are recommended to check it out!
Other recommended topics in Project Development are Wendia: Silentium of Ventus, which uses small edits to the RTP beautifully and deserves a look and SAMMAEL, a topic in Concept Development about a game that wouldn’t take itself nearly as seriously as a lot of RPGs tend to but that wouldn’t seem to go overboard with silliness as a lot of people fall into the trap of doing. Both are worth a look!
Though it’s old news by now, the announcement of Action Game Maker more than deserves a mention. You can discuss the maker, your super cool Zelda Fangame and how much this must suck for the people developing the Zelda starter kits here! In this reporter’s opinion, December can’t come fast enough!
Action or RPG, everyone makes games for a different reason. What do you want out of your game? Why not tell us?
Usually when we point you toward a topic in resource analysis there’s resources to be found there! It’s no different this time, though you need to look a bit more. The ‘resources’ you’ll find in Basic Shapes – Shading Help Needed! are actually the comments! There’s a lot of good advice in that thread for artists, especially spriters!
From discussion of sprites to discussion of a topic at the heart of abortion debates, When Does Life Begin? is a relatively new topic in the Symposium. As with all Symposium topics and especially keeping in mind that this is quite a touchy issue, we recommend you bear in mind that there’s a chance you could be offended by this link and if you are we ask you look over the Symposium rules before responding. Even if you’re not offended it’d be a good idea.
This Topic in NFG contains a lot of helpful advice for all kinds of situations! If you can’t see it, you’ve been exiled and will never know how to make locks picked!
Once a Week is a pretty good idea, making people write something every week to get better! The deadline’s been extended so go, writers, do what you do best!
It’s been a while since we’ve seen anything from long time member $t3v0! His Monstarrrrrrs are worth a look!
This forum is full of people who wish to use games as a storytelling medium, so getting a story across via non-traditional means is something most of us are wanting to do! Why not check out missingno’s Freesia, an attempt at using another medium – a card game – to tell a story? If anything you can criticize it harshly to get back at him for the harsh crit he gave you games!
Speaking of harsh crit, please keep in mind when posting that there is a difference between being harsh and being confrontational. Make sure your crit is actually criticism and not empty insults. It doesn’t make you look nearly as cool as you think it does.
In other news, the End of Summer Swimsuit Contest in the staff forum is going, excuse the pun, swimmingly! Venetia was the obvious favourite but during her brief time away Wyatt stepped in and his girlish charm has the judges stunned! New contestant, Guardian1239, has a lot to beat! Will he manage? You won’t ever find out and we’re not sharing the pics!
