There a viable way to get past the tile limitations of VX?

VX to me just seems like the slightly better system but it's got those horrible limitations to the sprites. Is there a way to surpass those limitations without creating a system that's too complicated (I just want to see my tiles to the left)?

Sadly, no. If you altered VX's programming so you could get past them, that would be considered reverse engineering and thus, illegal.

(Somebody back me up on this because I'm not 100% sure)

I doubt it would be illegal since it would almost act like a mod. Mods aren't illegal as long as you use them on a legal copy of your software.

But even so nobody seems to have the motivation to pull it off and I don't have the know how.

There's a script for a tileset change but you have to build it in the editor with the wrong set and other stuff that sounds like a huge pain.. it looks like I'll probably stick with XP.

What you can and cannot do with a program depends on the EULA. I'm not totally familiar with RMVX but isn't there the infamous "no alterations" clause in there somewhere which effectively forbids anything like direct program modifications?
