The Sims 3 Website is Up

http://thesims3.ea.com/

The website is taking forever to load probably because everyone and their mom is on there, but just wanted to get the info out to any fellow Sim-addicts on here. It's the game I love to hate. It's so simple and unnecessary, but yet I am compelled to buy every expansion and waste days of my life ...

Okay, here's the info on this one, from the website.

Create A Home
Design and build homes with complete freedom to customize everything and make your very own neighborhoods. Infinite possibilities to design the interior furnishings of your Sims. Select any color or pattern you can imagine to furniture. Match all your furnishings with the same pattern & color, or mix patterns & colors of the furnishings to create your very own look. The possibilities are endless for creating your Sims home of their dreams.

Create Completely Unique Sims
Create Sims who look like you or anyone you know. The all-new Create A Sim is easy to use and more powerful than ever, letting you completely personalize your Sim’s appearance and personality.
Fine-tune every feature on your Sims face, customize their hair style, select the exact shade of their skin tone, and determine much more to make realistic Sims. Outfit your Sims with infinite fashion, make-up, and accessory styles.  It’s never been easier to make Sims that are thin, full-figured, muscular, and everything in between!
Designate your Sims’ personality based on an innovative trait system. Select from dozens of personality traits and combine up to five traits to make a variety of interesting characters, who live in the neighborhood.  Will you create an idealistic, creative dreamer who relishes taking risks thanks to his daredevil streak? Will you make an insensitive, drop-dead gorgeous socialite who neglects her romantic side and whose deepest secret is that she is actually a certified genius? It’s entirely up to you.

The screens are taking about 3.4 million years to load, but so far I've seen a house, a person up-close, a movie theatre, a farm, a downtown cafe, and people who all look remarkably different.

For me, if you can customize the Sims' body-shapes and tones, and change the color/pattern of any house/furniture element, and go from one place to the next without 10-minute-long loading screens, I think I'll plotz.

I hope people have already gotten to work on censor-removing mods >:}

Oh god, not another Sims game to be intensely obsessed with for months...

http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/2852/modsrz3.png[/img]
Hottest. Sim. Ever. So many mods I have!

I spent days overwriting the default random settings, right down to the facial structures and skin tones.

And now, they say I can use any color and pattern on furniture I want? Damnit. I'll never sleep again.

Edit: Oh, and the ability to place furniture at any rotation and still be usable? AWESOME!

I know. I have over 4gb of downloads, mods, hacks, etc. etc. etc. Finding/making custom content is almost more of an obsession than the game itself @_@

But probably atleast 60% of those 4gb is comprised of recolors, so really, this will be saving me time and hard drive space :D :D :D

Ooh, I wonder if they're going to be offering more animations and things for movie making? I used to make Sims 2 movies because I love to edit film and have no RL actors XD.

I wonder what they'll do for expansion packs?

I was reading up a bit about it, And It seems that neighbor hood exploration is available. I've always wanted to go around in the middle of the night fidgeting with other peoples stuff. And how we can create our own sims from infinite possibility's, that will definitely be worth my money. Cause who wants to look like the guy from across the room?
The sims have never ceased to amaze me from what they pull out of their head. I wonder what spore might have since they are made by the same people. But, nether the less this sims will blow the rest out of the water.

sims 3 is gonna be the shit. i really never played the sims 2, but the first one was badass and apparently the 2nd is like 153234563456 times better.

maybe ill play this one once i have a better machine =D

Jason

I wasted about 1 year of my life on Sims 1 total, and about 3 years of my life on Sims 2 total. IMO, it's wayyyyyy better. But when you get a gagillion pieces of custom content like me, it takes like 10 minutes for each loading screen :x

I'm so excited to just be able to walk off my property. I wanna walk over to my neighbor and kick HIS trashcan. I wanna jog over to the movie theatre when I don't feel like chilling at home. Fecking sweeeeeeeeeettttt

And if they do an object customization like Spore, expect to see meshes go bye-bye. You'll be able to dev everything in-game. I hope I hope I hope

There's no release date, but expect it in Q4 of 2009. That's what I read somewhere, anyway. But knowing EA, they'll sit on it until 2010.

Hey, the lag is a lil better ...

Wow, if those are the EA-made Sims, imagine how nice-looking the users will make them. I always get rid of all the Maxis crap, those people understand video game design, but NOT interior design or fashion, at all. But check out that pic of the brown-haired kid, he goes from skinny to fat, and he even gets fat-face. That's AWESOME

And it looks like they're making it possible to add colors & textures. Wheeeeee

The Sims 3 lets you immerse truly unique Sims in an open, living neighborhood just outside their door! The freedom of The Sims 3 will inspire you with endless possibilities and amuse you with unexpected moments of surprise and mischief.

New Seamless, Open Neighborhood—Explore the neighborhood freely.
Your Sims can roam throughout their neighborhood, visit neighbors’ homes, and explore the surroundings. They can stroll downtown to hang out with friends, meet someone new at the park, or run into colleagues on the street. If your Sims are in the right place at the right time, who knows what might happen?!

New Create A Sim—Create any Sim you can imagine.
New easy-to-use design tools allow for unlimited customization to make truly individual Sims. Determine your Sims’ shape and size, from thin to full-figured to muscular—and everything in between! Choose your Sims’ facial features, their exact skin tone, hair, eye shape and color and select their clothing and accessories.

New Realistic Personalities—Every Sim is a unique person, with a distinct personality.
Create realistic Sims with distinctive personalities. Select from dozens of personality traits and combine them in fun ways. The combination of traits you choose—brave, artistic, loner, perfectionist, klepto, romantic, clumsy, paranoid, and much, much more—help shape the behavior of your Sims and how they interact with other Sims. Your Sims can now rise above their basic set of every day needs.  They are complex individuals with unique personalities.

New Unlimited Customization—Everyone can customize everything!
Build your dream house or design the ultimate home. Customize everything from floors to flowers, shirts to sofas, wallpaper to window shades. It’s fun and easy to change colors and patterns giving you endless personalization options. Or you can populate your Sims’ neighborhood with pre-designed buildings and furnishings. Which of your Sims will live in high-end mansions, cool bachelor pads, ultimate dream homes or low-cost cottage?

I gotta stop getting excited about shit that's like 1.5 years away @_@

I hope it still works for Windows 2000, else I'm screwed. But anyway, the first Sim I'm going to make is me, good sense of humor, bored easily, Hotheaded, Childish and Friendly

I wasted so much money buying the sims expansions! Well they were kinda worth it or not....  When will the cycle end but seriously, what is the graphical difference? The faces still look like sims 2 for me.

*note: I bet EA wants us to spend our money on the whole sims franchise! I don't even think my machine could handle more....

Will there be some kind of online play? Like how they did with Sims 1 @_@ Playing alone is kinda... i dunno.. Lonely in the sense that you're around programmed characters. Don't get me wrong though, I was and addict on both 1 and 2, and 3 will probably hook me again, but would have more of a lasting effect if it has some kind of online interaction.

Other than that, from what I can see the graphics got a nice boost. My PC will surely like to take it for a spin. :3

Yea, being alone in the sims well... is.... lonely.
but I hop not the sims online style!
I prefer having rooms where you just share a neighborhood with a few (ahhhh I remember my lego days).

Sims3 and Sims2 graphics look nearly identical....

Have you looked at the Sims 2 lately? It looks really dated. Pre-rendered screens are easy to compare but in-game shots, not so much. I have it on all the highest settings with lighting mods and antialiasing and everything and textures are still low-res, the sims are very cartoony and offer very little in range of motion or expression, there're still jaggies like crazy, the neighborhood features amazing 10-polygon trees, etc. etc. Sims 3 looks smooth as butter, even as a pre-beta.

And anyway it's not about the graphics, it's about the gameplay.

I doubt there'll be online play, but it's probable that there'll be more integrated, seamless streaming with custom content sites. I'd rather there not be a multiplayer component. I like my world to be MINE, without other idiots messing up my visions for my town. Especially if I get back into moviemaking. That'd be impossible if it were open online.

I assume the expansions will include the basics:
- Pets
- Vacations
- More in-depth dating/nightlife
- Businesses

But maybe we'll see more on water activities, jobs (I think it'd be fun to follow your Sim to work sometimes instead of just getting lottery cards and the daily pay. Even if it's at an office you could have like office romances and play minigames), huge events (weddings, birthdays, etc--like Celebration Stuff, but more focused on the events than just the stuff). Also maybe a more magical expansion like in Sims 1, where you can do weird, zany things, or an expansion that supports otherworldly creatures (centaurs, mermen, etc.), since I always like playing as Vampires, Werewolves, Zombies, Plantsims, Aliens, etc.

Oow... Get Ready for Something Big! (says da website)
1. Big addiction
2. Big fun time
3. Big complication
4. Big HDD requirement
5. Big CPU requirement
6. Big RAM reguirement
7. Big [real] money to spent [game and comp.upgrade]  :shades:
8. .....

Ok, now I'll return to my coffin and wake up when this game is about to be released
Zzzzz Zzzzz Zzzz

I'll wake you up when its 30 minutes to release, hehe.

Yea, I hope more wierd stuff coz it makes sims even more fun or annoyingly-fun.
Office/Work minigame.
I hope they reinclude the pool slide.
Plus add sports like soccer and basketball (and let other sims join too).

Yup! Freebies like 'Free Time'!

I do wish to follow my sim when he/she is working, but now if I had 4 sims in my household with each of them having different proffession...

I take back my wish earlier.

I would like something like 'creating' with recipes though, be it cooking or anything. Just like its console version when you can actually cook something with given ingredients ;)

Really? you could mix stuff up? thats great, never tried the console versions.
but about the thing about work, I think they would let you choose if you want to follow them or just base their performance by their skills.

E@ ! H0P3 U <OulD RAeD D!S

Yeah that's what I was thinking.

Like, when the carpool shows up/they're driving to work, a box'll come up that says, "Would you like to follow _blah_ to work? Y/N". If no, the day goes by normally and they get home the same way as in Sims 2. If yes, you go w/ your chosen Sim to work. If you did that, they could get promotions based on your performance and play minigames/have office romances/etc. Then you get home at 5pm or whenever your sim should get home and everything will have gone through the rigors of the day as if you were playing through it (the other sims in the family will have gone pee, fed themselves, kept the house clean, etc.).

I think that'd be pretty cool.

It wouldn't be very hard, it'd be:
Office - lots of desks and computers, filing minigames, cubicle decorating.
Hospital - lots of beds & rooms, surgery minigames
Cooking - working in a kitchen, cooking minigames
Crime - working downtown, in alleys, shaking sims down for $$, breaking into homes w/o getting caught, "swiping" minigames

etc.
